Abstract

Religious identity has become an important issue among adolescents due to technological advancement, digital media, and social changes that influence their values, behaviors, and spiritual commitment. Although Islamic counseling has been implemented in educational settings, studies formulating a counseling model to strengthen the religious identity of madrasah students remain limited. This study aims to identify the characteristics of students' religious identity, examine the educational and spiritual factors influencing its development, and formulate an Islamic counseling model. A qualitative single case study was conducted at MTs Al Washliyah Gedung Johor Medan. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis involving teachers, the head of the madrasah, and selected students. The findings show that religious identity is influenced by teacher role modeling, spiritual practices, family support, peer interaction, and digital media exposure. The proposed model comprises four stages: comprehensive identification, integrated spiritual reinforcement, character formation, and continuous mentoring and evaluation. This model offers theoretical and practical contributions to strengthening religious identity among madrasah students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving students’ religious character at MAS Al Washliyah. The focus of the study is directed toward the forms of strategies implemented by teachers, the supporting and inhibiting factors, and their impact on the development of students’ religious character within the school environment. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observations, interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers and students, as well as documentation of religious activities conducted at the school. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education teachers in enhancing students’ religious character were carried out through habituation of worship practices, teacher role modeling, providing advice and motivation, and organizing religious activities such as congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation, and commemoration of Islamic holidays. Teachers also applied personal approaches to students in order to build religious awareness and good morals. Supporting factors in implementing these strategies included support from the school principal, a religious school environment, and cooperation between teachers and parents. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors were the lack of awareness among some students and the influence of the external environment outside the school. This study concludes that the strategies implemented by Islamic Religious Education teachers play an important role in shaping and improving students’ religious character at school.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has the largest Muslim population in the world. Currently, it is estimated that the number of Muslims reaches 207 million people, most of whom adhere to the Sunni sect of Islam. This large number implies that around 13% of Muslims worldwide live in Indonesia and also implies that the majority of the population in Indonesia adheres to Islam (almost 90% of the Indonesian population). However, even though the majority of the population is Muslim, Indonesia is not an Islamic country based on Islamic laws. In facing social changes in society, every devout religious follower will use the doctrine of his religious teachings to face all conditions that exist in his living environment. Islam acts as a value system that contains certain norms. The ongoing Islamization process has provided significant results both for Islam and for Indonesia. With this role of Islam, the dimensions of human life will be orderly and disciplined.

Abstract

The digitalization of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning is a transformation of the learning system that utilizes digital technology to improve the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of education. The digitalization of PAI learning brings significant transformations in various sectors of life, including Islamic education. Digitalization not only changes the method of presenting knowledge, but also opens new opportunities in the internalization of balanced Islamic values. In this case, the digitalization of Islamic education plays an important role as a means of strengthening peace education that aims to instill the values of tolerance, empathy, and social justice. The process of digitalizing Islamic education can strengthen peace education through the integration of information technology in learning activities, da'wah, and Islamic character training. Thus, it can form a religious character of students in overcoming moral crises, juvenile delinquency, and misuse of technology in students. The values of honesty, responsibility, discipline, and Islamic digital literacy are instilled in students
