Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ reception of the hadiths concerning Duha prayer at MTs Raudlatul Uluum Aek Nabara from the perspective of Living Hadith. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students’ reception of the hadiths on Duha prayer is manifested in two primary dimensions: exegetical reception and functional reception. Exegetical reception is reflected in students’ understanding that Duha prayer is a Prophetic tradition (sunnah), a means of drawing closer to Allah, and a practice that brings blessings. Functional reception is evident in the implementation of congregational Duha prayer, which has become a religious culture within the madrasa and is practiced by approximately 95% of the students. The practice provides various benefits perceived by the students, including increased learning motivation, discipline, psychological well-being, self-confidence, moral development, and harmonious social relationships. These findings indicate that the hadiths concerning Duha prayer are not merely understood as normative religious teachings but are also actualized in daily life, contributing to the development of students’ religious character.

Abstract

Normatively, the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad Saw., commands that Zakat al-Fitr be distribution before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. However, the sosiological reality in Rao-Rao Dolok Village reveals that distribution by amil consistently delayed past this limit. This study aims to analyze this delayed distribution through the perspective of Living Hadith studies. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using textual and contextual living hadith methods. Primary data were gathered through interviews with amil, muzakki and mustahiq, alongside village zakat records triangulation. The novelty lies in dissecting the sociological dialectic of community interactions (living hadith practices) toward managerial constraints at the village level, rather than merely examining the textual laws of zakat delay. The findings indicate that the delay is caused  by managerial and sosiological constraints instead of theological factors. Key obstacles include muzakki piling up payments on takbiran, night, limited amil personnel, and transportation challenges using “becak” for door to door delivery. In hadith law, delaying distribution without a valid sharia excuse (uzur syar’i) shifts the zakat status implies the urgent need to restructure payment timing by village amil and the reinforce theological education by local religious leaders to align distribution management with the maqashid of the Prophet’s Hadith.

Abstract

This study aims to interpret the Prophetic hadiths related to mental health and examine their relevance to modern neuropsychology. It employs a qualitative approach using library research with a thematic (mawdu’i) method. The data were collected from hadiths contained in the Kutub al-Sittah, classical hadith commentaries (sharh), and relevant literature on psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience. The analysis involved takhrij of the hadiths, interpretation based on the explanations of classical scholars, and integration with contemporary neuropsychological theories. The findings reveal that hadiths concerning anger regulation, optimism, patience, remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and husn al-zhann (positive expectation toward Allah) embody principles of mental health that are consistent with psychological and neurobiological mechanisms. Anger regulation is associated with self-regulation and reduced amygdala activity; patience strengthens resilience by lowering cortisol levels; gratitude and optimism enhance positive emotions through dopamine activation; tawakkul reduces anxiety by optimizing prefrontal cortex function; while dhikr induces relaxation through activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. These findings indicate that the values embedded in the hadiths transform religious understanding into positive cognitive patterns and adaptive behaviors, which subsequently influence brain activity through neuroplasticity and promote mental well-being. This study concludes that hadiths serve not only as normative and spiritual guidance but also as scientifically relevant sources for the development of mental health from a neuropsychological perspective, thereby reinforcing the integration of hadith studies with modern neuroscience.
