Abstract

Rice in one of the food commodities because it is widely consumed by most Indonesian people. The purpose of this study is to improve the quality and health of rice seeds throuhg a coating process. This research was conducted at the Faculty of agriculture at the University of Timor in February-May 2019. This study used a completely randomized factorial design. The first factor is to do a coating consisting of 3 levels, namely without coating, coating whit PGPR, coating with MOL. The second factor is the deposit period consisting of 4 levels, namely: no storage, ist month storage, 2nd month storage, and 3rd month storage. The results showed that there was an interaction in all the observed parameters except for the observed parameters of normal germination weight, with the best treatment combination being the coating treatment with PGPR with a storage time of 1 month as indicated by the observed parameters of the best germination, best vigor index, and lowest incidence of disease. normal, with the best treatment combination is a coating treatment with PGPR with a storage time of 1 month as indicated by the observation parameters of the best germination, the best vigor index, and the lowest incidence of disease.

Abstract

One strategy to increase the production and quality of shallots is to encourage the use of planting material through seeds known as true shallot seed (TSS). The purpose of this study is to increase the production of TSS seeds and improve the quality of TSS onion seed from Miomaffo Barat subdistrict. This research used the Randomized Block Design factorial. The first factor was an application of gibberellin (GA3), consisted of three treatments i.e without GA3 (control) applications, GA3 100 ppm applications and GA3 200 ppm applications. The second factor was vernalization treatment at 10 oC temperature with three treatments i.e without vernalization (control), vernalization for 2 weeks and vernalization for 4 weeks. The results showed that the highest number of capsule peracel was found in vernaliazation treatment 2 and 4 weeks that is 60.67 and 59.00. The highest number of sealed pest capsules was found in 2 and 4 weeks vernalization treatment, 42.75 and 54.83. The highest number of seeds was found in 4 weeks' vernalization treatment with the value is 108.14. The number of seed showed that no significantly difference on the all of treatment. The highest of a maximum growth potential was found in 4 weeks of vernalization treatment 70%, germination on 4 week vernalization treatment, 50%, vigor index on 4 week vernalization treatment, 46.00%.

Abstract

One strategy to increase shallot productivity is to use fertilizers and growth regulators. The aim of the study was to determine the response of vegetative and generative growth of shallots to local Eban cultivars through the application of gibberellins and P fertilizers in the middle plains of North Central Timor District. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RBD). The first factor was the application of gibberellins (GA3), consisting of three treatments, namely without application of GA3 (control), application of 100 ppm GA3 and application of 200 ppm of GA3. The second factor was P fertilizer treatment which consisted of three treatments, namely without P fertilizer (P0), P fertilizer 50 kg/ha (P1) and P fertilizer 100 kg/ha (P2). The results showed that the 200 ppm gibberellin treatment had an effect on plant height. Treatment of 100 ppm gibberellins affected tuber diameter, tuber fresh weight and tuber dry weight. Treatment of P 200 kg/ha had an effect on plant height and number of leaves, treatment of P 100 kg/ha had an effect on the number of tillers. Generative growth did not occur in all the treatments tried, this was due to the influence of environmental factors such as high temperatures during the study

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan bagi masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan limbah rumah tangga dan hijauan dalam bentuk pelatihan pembuatan serta pengaplikasian pupuk organik cair dengan bahan limbah rumah tangga. Pemahaman ini sangat diperlukan guna meminimalisir penggunaan pupuk anorganik yang kurang ramah lingkungan dan penggunaan bahan organik dalam usaha pertanian guna meningkatkan mutu hasil pertanian. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini meliputi ceramah, diskusi dan pelatihan. Tahapan kegiatan ini meliputi koordinasi, persiapan alat bahan, penyampaian proses pembuatan POC bagi para peserta pengabdian dan pengaplikasian hasil pembuatan POC pada tanaman pertanian. Adapun hasil kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini yaitu adanya tambahan wawasan dan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam pembuatan pupuk organik cair serta tambahan pengalaman dan peningkatan keterampilan dalam pembuatan pupuk organik cair. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sudah dilaksanakan dengan baik dengan harapan kegiatan ini tidak berhenti hanya pada saat kegiatan ini saja tetapi, dapat di dilakukan terus-menerus secara berkelanjutan dengan menyesuaikan kebaruan dan perkembangan teknik-teknik pembuatan pupuk organik melalui kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan.

Abstract

Corn is a food that is easily accepted, people, because it is a tradisional food in NTT and also as a staple food. Thys study aimed to determine the germination and early growth of local Timor cornseeds that were smoked using vegetable materials. This research was carried out in December 2021 at the Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Timor, Kefamenanu. This research uses Completely Randomized Design (CRD) single factor : smoking from vegetable ingredients Kusambi (Ku), krinyu leaf (Kr), Gringsingan (Gr) the results of this study show the highest value namely the parameter germination capacity (96,67%), maximum growt potential (86,36%), growt speed (15,94%), vigor index (10,67%), and dry weight of sprouts were normal (8,29 gram). Initial growth parameters with the value height (39,13cm), number of leaves (4), stem diameter (0,55 mm).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of probiotic bacteria as biocontrol agents is one of the methods of controlling anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum acutatum. The objective of this research was to suppress the infection of C. acutatum and increase chilli pepper seedling vigour. The research involved factorial experiments arranged in a completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor was seed coating involving six treatments, i.e., control, seed coating without bacteria, seed coating with Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas sp., Actinomycetes sp, and fungicide. The second factor was the seed storage period where six storage periods were experimented, i.e., 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 months. The results showed that the coating treatment of Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas sp., and Actinomycetes sp. improved germination, growth rate and number of leaves and reduced the incidence of attacks and infection of hypocotyls at 5 month storage period.Keywords: Actinomycetes sp., Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas sp., seed coating, storage period

Abstract

Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) merupakan hormon tumbuh yang memegang peranan penting pada semua tanaman dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengkarakterisasi bakteri rhizosfer penghasil IAA dari tanaman kacang gude (Cajanus cajan L) sebagai penghasil IAA dan mengetahui pengaruh isolat bakteri tersebut terhadap perkecambahan benih padi (Oryza sativa L). Penelitian diawali dengan pengambilan sampel, isolasi bakteri menggunakan media Nutrient Agar (NA) dan seleksi isolat bakteri penghasil IAA. Seleksi isolate baketri penghasil IAA dilakukan dengan cara menumbuhkan isolat bakteri pada media Nutrient Broth (NB) + triptofan dan direaksikan dengan reagen Salkowski. Hasil isolasi diperoleh tujuh isolat dengan karakter morfologi koloni berukuran kecil dan sedang, warna koloni putih, bentuk koloni bundar, berserabut, tidak teratur, elevasi koloni datar, umbunate, pulvinate, dan cembung. Tepi koloni rata, bergelombang dan berlekuk. Hasil seleksi didapatkan tiga isolat yaitu RTG-01, RTG-02 dan RTG-03 yang menghasilkan IAA. Hasil identifikasi mikroskopis isolat RTG-01 dan RTG-02 bentuk sel bulat Gram negatif dan isolat RTG-03 bentuk sel batang Gram positif. Isolat bakteri penghasil IAA diaplikasikan pada benih padi dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non factorial. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukan bahwa perlakuan ketiga isolat bakteri penghasil IAA tidak berpengaruh nyata (p<0.05) terhadap potensi tumbuh maksimum, indeks vigor, dan berat kering kecambah normal padi, namun berpengaruh nyata (p>0.05) terhadap daya berkecambah.

Abstract

Pengembangan bahan tanam bawang merah dari biji botanis (True Shallot Seed) merupakan salah satu inovasi teknologi dalam meningkatkan kualitas benih. Beberapa hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa giberelin (GA3) mampu menginduksi pembungaan dan meningkatkan produksi true shallot seed (TSS) pada bawang merah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menetapkan konsentrasi giberelin dan lama perendaman yang pengaruhnya paling baik terhadap hasil umbi, produksi true shallot seed (TSS) dan mutu benih bawang merah lokal Eban. Percobaan dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni sampai Oktober 2024 di Desa Saenam, Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) dan Laboratorium Universitas Timor. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi giberelin dengan empat taraf yaitu 0 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, dan 300 ppm. Faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman dengan tiga taraf yaitu 30, 45 dan 60 menit. Hasil Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (Duncan's Multiple Range Test/DMRT) menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi giberelin 200 ppm dan lama perendaman 30 menit menghasilkan jumlah umbi pertanaman 12,33 umbi, berat kering umbi 168,51 g pada konsentrasi giberelin 200 ppm dan lama perendaman 60 menit. Konsentrasi giberelin 300 ppm dan lama perendaman 30 menit meningkatkan persentase tanaman berbunga 54,50%, konsentrasi 100 ppm dan lama perendaman 30 menit meningkatkan jumlah kapsul bernas per umbel 17,67 dan jumlah biji per umbel 37,00. Uji mutu benih TSS yang dihasilkan oleh umbi yang diberi konsentrasi giberelin 300 ppm dan lama perendaman 30 menit menghasilkan potensi tumbuh maksimum 14,66% dan daya berkecambah 14,66%. Perendaman umbi dengan giberelin belum mampu menghasilkan benih dengan viabilitas sesuai standar benih bermutu, sehingga diperlukan penelitian lanjutan. ABSTRACT The development of shallot planting material from botanical seeds (True Shallot Seed) is one of the technological innovations in improving seed quality. Several research results show that gibberellin (GA3) can induce flowering and increase the production of true shallot seed (TSS) in shallots. This study aimed to determine the gibberellin concentration and soaking duration that had the best effect on bulb yield, true shallot seed (TSS) production and seed quality of local Eban shallots. The experiment was conducted from June to October 2024 in Saenam Village, North Central Timor Regency (TTU) and the Timor University Laboratory. The experimental design used was a factorial randomized block design (RAK). The first factor was gibberellin concentration with four levels: 0 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, and 300 ppm. The second factor was soaking duration with three levels: 0, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The results of Duncan multiple range test (DMRT) analysis showed that gibberellin concentration of 200 ppm and soaking duration of 30 minutes resulted in 12.33 tubers per plant, dry weight of bulbs of 168.51 g at gibberellin concentration of 200 ppm and soaking duration of 60 minutes. Gibberellin concentration of 300 ppm and soaking duration of 30 minutes increased the percentage of flowering plants by 54.50%, concentration of 100 ppm and soaking duration of 30 minutes increased the number of full capsules per umbel by 17.67 and the number of seeds per umbel by 37.00. The quality test of TSS seeds produced by bulbs given gibberellin concentration of 300 ppm and soaking duration of 30 minutes resulted in a maximum growth potential of 14.66% and germination power of 14.66%. Soaking bulbs with gibberellin has not been able to produce seeds with viability according to quality seed standards, so further research is needed.

Abstract

Penggunaan benih bermutu sebagai bahan tanam hanya dapat dicapai melalui penelitian, pengkajian dan evaluasi kemudian dilakukan transfer teknologi kepada Petani. Kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat dalam bentuk penyuluhan/penyadaran, pelatihan dan pendampingan untuk mentransfer teknologi melalui pemberdayaan kelompok, berlangsung selama enam bulan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menyadarkan atau melatih dan mendampingi petani dalam budidaya bawang merah untuk memperoleh hasil panen yang berkualitas dan mendorong petani agar mampu memproduksi benih lokal sendiri, sehingga benih lokal yang tersedia memiliki mutu yang tepat dan jumlah yang cukup. Transfer teknologi produksi bawang merah dilakukan pada petani di Desa Saenam Kecamatan Miomaffo Barat, Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara (TTU). Tim pengabdi dan petani bersama-sama menerapkan teknologi produksi bawang merah. Inovasi teknologi produksi benih yang diterapkan yaitu budidaya bawang merah menggunakan true shallot seed (TSS) dan benih umbi yang diberi perlakuan Plant Growth Promotion Rhizobacteria (PGPR) kemudian dikolaborasikan dengan kearifan lokal petani bawang di Desa Saenam. Dari kegiatan ini, masyarakat mitra mampu meningkatkan pengetahun berkaitan dengan teknologi produksi benih umbi maupun benih biji (true shallot seed) serta menyadarkan mereka agar mengurangi penggunaan pupuk atau pestisida kimia dalam budidaya bawang merah lokal.
