Abstract

The language and signs discussed in the public space by various political parties are known to be related to politics and power, namely that the two are interrelated. Something that political parties construct has a specific purpose. This study aims to dissect the hidden discourses of Ir. Soekano in PDI Perjuangan billboards through the application of Michel Foucault's theory of power- knowledge Utilizing a descriptive qualitative design with primary data sources of PDI Perjuangan billboards in public places and data in the form of the name and portrait of Ir. Soekarno in billboards and secondary data in the form of data on the internet regarding the PDI Perjuangan. The data collection technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The data analysis applies the Miles & Huberman triangulation model, including data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results obtained include; (1) interpretation of Megawati's knowledge of the privileges and prestige she has, displays the image of a symbolic leader, and is represented through Ir Soekarno's object in the PDI Perjuangan billboard; (2) Ir. Soekarno, in the PDI Perjuangan billboard, attempted to perpetuate the PDI Perjuangan power from the people's voice.

Abstract

AbstractThis study focuses on trying to determine the correlation between author Agatha Cristie's desires and the manipulative character Nick Buckley in the novel Hotel Majestic – Peril at End House. Applying Jaques Lacan's psychoanalytic theory regarding the concept of desire which states that individuals will become subjects in an effort to fulfill their shortcomings. In this study, the results found were Agatha Cristie's desire as a writer to fight back against events that hurt her in life. Then the presence of an ideal image in the form of being recognized as a brave and great woman becomes the desire that Agatha Cristie strives for through the antagonist Nick Buckley. The third desire is the search for another object because of lost love. Then the fourth desire, in the form of presenting a manipulative character in Nick Buckley, becomes Agatha's way of fulfilling her desire to gain compassion or attention from readers and other characters in the novel. So the correlation between the creation of manipulative traits that secretly control other characters to obtain personal gain by Nick Buckley helps manifest Agatha Crishtie's passion as an author. Childhood life, death and divorce from her husband were the main factors in Agatha acting as the subject of the novel Hotel Majestic – Peril at End House.Key words: Lacan, desire, manipulative, Agatha Cristie, Nick Buckley

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between the Cawelti formula and the children's story. Lima Sekawan: Rahasia di Pulau Kirrin with cognitive development in children The research method uses a qualitative method with data obtained through a literature review. Primary data was obtained through the novel, and secondary data was obtained through related literature. Data analysis efforts were carried out in three stages, including data sorting, data grouping, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the mystery formula in children's stories met the criteria of Cawelti's formula theory and found a mystery with a puzzle that became a conflict. The reference to the mystery formula is based on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The relationship between mystery formulas in children's stories and cognitive development helps cognitive development by presenting imagination in reading books that have puzzles in them. This is to train children's imagination and also spur children to hone their thinking power to participate in solving puzzles in the books they read.
