Abstract

This study examines the factors affecting the sustainability of Afghanistan's natural resources, aiming to provide a framework for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and strategic planning models, key factors such as organizational structure, management, economic, social, cultural, and ecological aspects were identified and prioritized. The findings indicate that organizational and managerial structure is the most critical factor, accounting for 38% of the overall importance. The research underscores the necessity for integrated and systematic management of natural resources to enhance economic and social well-being. It also emphasizes strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation as essential components for effective resource management. A proposed model for sustainable natural resource management includes community empowerment, knowledge integration, economic viability, and improved communication among stakeholders. The study suggests that Afghanistan can develop its natural resources sustainably by leveraging strengths and opportunities while addressing weaknesses and threats. A comprehensive understanding of the various influencing factors and their interactions is vital for designing an effective model for sustainable management. This research contributes to the discourse on sustainable development in Afghanistan, providing actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders in the natural resource sector.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges and constraints of economic development in Afghanistan's rural areas and to propose solutions to overcome these obstacles. Rural economic development in Afghanistan faces significant challenges due to infrastructure deficiencies, financial and social limitations, and high rates of labor migration to urban areas. In this regard, the study seeks to analyze these inhibiting factors and provide practical, policy-oriented solutions to improve the economic conditions of Afghanistan’s rural communities. This research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and quantitative surveys from various groups, including farmers, small business owners, and local officials in several rural regions of Afghanistan. The data were analyzed through content analysis and statistical methods. Findings indicate that the primary challenges to economic development in these areas include a lack of infrastructure, insufficient financial facilities, and limited access to technical and vocational training. Additionally, the results suggest that support for small businesses, infrastructure development, and vocational training could significantly improve rural economic conditions. This research not only offers policy recommendations for government institutions and development organizations but also adds to the theoretical literature on rural economic development in Afghanistan, potentially serving as a guide for effective, localized policymaking.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of community-based development (CBD) initiatives in rural Afghanistan, focusing on the National Solidarity Program (NSP) and the Citizens' Charter National Priority Program (CCNPP). These programs, designed to empower rural communities through participatory decision-making and infrastructure development, have played a critical role in post-conflict reconstruction. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research combines quantitative data from surveys and program reports with qualitative insights from interviews and focus groups to assess the programs' impacts, challenges, and sustainability. Key findings reveal that while the NSP and CCNPP have significantly improved access to basic services and fostered community participation, they face persistent challenges such as fragmented social structures, security constraints, and gender disparities. The study highlights the importance of context-specific approaches, enhanced local governance capacities, and greater gender inclusion to ensure equitable and sustainable outcomes. Additionally, the study addresses the implications of recent political changes, including the Taliban's return to power, on the future of CBD initiatives in Afghanistan. By providing a comprehensive analysis of the NSP and CCNPP, this research contributes to the broader understanding of CBD in conflict-affected settings and offers actionable recommendations for policymakers and development practitioners. The findings underscore the need for adaptive strategies that address Afghanistan's unique socio-political dynamics, ensuring that future CBD programs are more inclusive, resilient, and effective.

Abstract

Sustainable rural development is critical to improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of rural communities. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure and limited access to essential services impede progress. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) offers innovative solutions to overcome these barriers. This research aims to explore the role of ICT in sustainable rural development, focusing on its applications in the agriculture, health, education and governance sectors. The research used a mixed approach, combining policy analysis, stakeholder interviews, case studies, as well as secondary data analysis and spatial modeling. Data were collected through surveys and GIS data analysis to identify the role of ICTs in sustainable rural development. Findings show that the use of ICTs, such as GIS and mobile applications, has improved land use planning and resource management. About 80% of respondents have access to mobile phones, but only 50% have internet access, suggesting barriers to digital adoption. While ICTs have the potential to enhance rural development, challenges such as digital literacy and infrastructure deficiencies remain a barrier. Strategic investments and collaboration between stakeholders are needed to maximize the impact of ICTs. This research demonstrates that ICT integration in rural planning can foster sustainable development. Although significant challenges exist, recommendations including investment in digital infrastructure and digital literacy training programs are essential to optimize the benefits of ICT for rural communities. Strategic implementation of such recommendations can transform rural communities towards a more sustainable and resilient future.

Abstract

This article examines the role of geography in the formation of ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, and China. By analyzing environmental factors such as rivers, fertile soil, climate, and geographic location, we demonstrate how these factors acted as primary drivers in the development of agriculture, trade, and social organization. The research methodology of this article is based on historical-geographical analysis utilizing library resources, historical documents, and archaeological data. The findings indicate that rivers, as vital arteries, enabled sustainable agriculture and trade, while climate and fertile soil contributed to economic and population growth. Furthermore, strategic geographic locations acted as key factors in shaping political boundaries and cultural interactions. This article concludes that geography not only served as an environmental factor but also acted as a driving force in the evolution of human societies. Future research is suggested to focus on the impact of geography on lesser-known civilizations and the role of technology in overcoming geographical limitations.

Abstract

Height is one of the structural factors that most influences the earth's environment. Access to varying temperatures has created many challenges for animal health. Addressing ecological problems through temperature reduction and subsequent recovery of animal growth has become one of the most important topics of modern times, accessible through ecology and fundamental change. Climatology covers many fields of study, not only within the branch of atmospheric science but also involving issues of animal ecology. This significant form of intelligence can control various human needs, such as food, energy, health, physical and mental well-being, and much more. This analysis was carried out through the library abstraction method. Based on the following titles and keywords, various sources, including acceptable anesthesia books and accessories about the anniversary of acute equipment such as air pressure, temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind, and the influence of rainfall on brain and brain health and disease, studied. It appears that climate, which includes elements such as wind, rain, and snow, can play an influential role in animal emotions. Considering that these natural phenomena have different environments in our lives, considering them can contribute to improving the quality of the brain and brain in our daily life.

Abstract

T This study comprehensively examines the multifaceted challenges impeding rural development in Afghanistan and proposes strategic recommendations for achieving sustainable growth. The research employs extensive document analysis, a critical review, and a literature review spanning 2020 to 2024, analyzing institutional, socio-cultural, economic, environmental, and infrastructural factors affecting rural development. The findings reveal that development is hindered by institutional obstacles such as ineffective governance, centralized planning, and a lack of coherent strategies, alongside socio-cultural issues like migration, low educational attainment, gender disparities, and economic barriers including poverty, unemployment, and limited market access. Environmental concerns such as land degradation and inadequate infrastructure further exacerbate these challenges. The study recommends a holistic approach, emphasizing decentralization, community engagement, infrastructure investment, sustainable agricultural practices, and vocational training to build local capacities. Collaborative efforts between stakeholders are essential to drive sustainable development in Afghanistan's rural areas.
