Abstract

ABSTRACT The prevalence of emergencies in schools is still quite high, which is caused by accidents being unplanned and unwanted events by any individual that can cause injury, illness or material damage. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the simulation method on students' knowledge and skills in handling school emergencies. The design of this research is quasi experimental with bivariate analysis using the dependent t test or paired t test with a sig value <0.05. The results of the research show a significant difference between the level of knowledge and skills in emergency action before and after giving educational simulations with p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) with the conclusion that there is an influence of school emergency simulations on increasing students' knowledge and skills at SMK Fahd Islmaic School Bekasi. Abstract

Cannulation pain is a common problem in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis which impacts the patient's quality of life. Cold compress therapy is a non-pharmacological therapy to reduce pain through vasoconstriction mechanisms and modulation of nerve activity. This study aims to determine the effect of cold compresses on reducing the cannulation pain scale in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Jakarta Islamic Hospital Cempaka Putih. Method: Using a Pre-Experiment with a One Group Pretest and Posttest Design research design with a sample of 18 respondents. There was a decrease in the pain scale with pretest pain values there were 9 respondents with mild pain and 9 other respondents with moderate pain, after being given cold compress therapy, 7 respondents did not experience pain and 11 respondents had a mild pain scale with p-value 0.001 <0.05. There is an effect of cold compresses on reducing the cannulation pain scale in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Jakarta Islamic Hospital Cempaka Putih

Abstract

Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis require effective self-care management to support the success of their therapy. Knowledge and self-efficacy are important factors in managing self-care.  Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy levels with self-care management among CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital. Methods: This study used a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 75 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires on knowledge level, self-efficacy, and self-care management, and then analyzed using Chi-square tests and logistic regression. Results: Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and self-care management with a p value <0,001, as well as between self-efficacy and self-care management with a p value <0,001. Multivariate analysis showed that knowledge (OR = 6.633; p value < 0.001) and self-efficacy (OR = 10.633; p value < 0.001) had a significant effect on self-care management, with self-efficacy being the dominant factor. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and self-efficacy with self-care management in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. Health education and emotional support are strongly needed to improve self-efficacy and knowledge so that patients' self-care management abilities can be enhanced.

Abstract

Bacground: Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis frequently experience anxiety duet o the continuous nature of the therapy. Progressive muscle relaxation techniques are used to help reduce anxiety by controlling muscle tension and regulating patients emotional responses. Objective: To determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on anxiety levels among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Methods: This study employed a pre experimental one group pretest-posttest design, total sampling was used, involving 21 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) was utilized to measure anxiety levels during the pretest and posttest. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: A reduction in anxiety levels was observed. During the pretest, 16 respondents experienced mild anxiety and 5 respondents experienced moderate anxiety. After the intervention, anxiety levels decreased, with 19 respondents experiencing no anxiety and 2 respondents experiencing mild anxiety. Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation techniques significantly reduced anxiety levels in patients undergoing hemodialysis, with a p-value of 0.00 (p < 0.05). Recommendation: This study provides evidence that progressive muscle relaxation is an effective, safe, and simple non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis, and may serve as a reference for clinical practice, patient self-management, and future research.

Abstract

Background: Fractures resulting from traffic accidents are injuries that have the potential to cause disability if not treated appropriately. One technique used is splinting to prevent bone displacement, reduce pain, and protect surrounding tissue. Students' knowledge of splinting techniques is still low, requiring effective educational methods, such as seminars and self-directed videos. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of splinting skills education for closed fractures using seminars and self-directed videos on the knowledge level of 12th-grade students at SMAN 4 Jakarta. Methods: This study used a Quasi-Experimental design with a Pretest-Posttest with Control Group Design. 144 students were selected using simple random sampling and divided into an intervention group (self-directed video) and a control group (seminar), each with 72 respondents. The research instrument consisted of pretest and posttest questionnaires. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: There was an increase in knowledge in both groups with a p-value <0.05, where the posttest score was higher than the pretest. The positive rank score for the intervention group was 61 and for the control group, 55. Conclusion: Education on splinting skills for closed fractures using seminars and self-directed video was equally effective in improving the knowledge of 12th-grade students at SMAN 4 Jakarta. However, the self-directed video method yielded higher improvement than the seminar method, thus concluding that the self-directed video method is more effective in improving student knowledge.
