Abstract

This research investigated whether authentic podcast media affects the speaking performance of tenth-grade students at SMK Kesehatan Kaltara. This research used a quantitative approach and pre-experimental method to implement pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Through random sampling technique the researcher selected nursing b class consisting of 25 students as the sample. The researcher used the normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test to manage the pre-test and post-test data. This research results indicate an effect of authentic podcast media on students' speaking performance. Data analysis showed that the detected data was normal and homogeneous. The hypothesis test result using the paired sample t-test was smaller than 0.05, showing that Ha was accepted while Ho was rejected. Ha claimed that authentic podcast media affects students' speaking performance at the SMK Kesehatan Kaltara. The influences of using authentic media in speaking contributed to the effect on teachers and students. Teachers used authentic podcast media as additional tools to create new designs in the teaching and learning process. The students changed how they practiced speaking, increasing their fluency, pronunciation, enrich vocabulary, comprehension, and has a positive effect in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Background:  Pronunciation is probably one of the most problematic and the conventional teaching approaches do not tend to offer the immediate, personal feedback, which is required to achieve effective pronunciation. But AI speech recognition applications can provide a real-time corrective response that may be used to overcome these drawbacks in teaching. Methodology:  The research utilized a pre experimental one group pre-test post-test study design whose qualitative observations were supported by 30 first-semester students purposely selected to participate in the study. The information was gathered by means of pre- and post-teaching tests, observation forms, and AI-based feedback. The quantitative analysis was based on descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test, and instead, thematic coding based on observation was applied to qualitative data. Findings:  The results showed that the pronunciation of students has been significantly improved, and the average scores have increased by 68.4 to 81.7 (p < 0.05). The qualitative observations revealed the enhancement of the accuracy in the production of segmental characteristics, including the interdental sounds (/θ/, /ð/), voicing contrasts (/v/ vs. /f/), and vowel length differences, and advances in supra segmental characteristics, which included word stress, rhythm, and intonation. Besides, self-confidence, motivation, and independence of the students in practicing pronunciation using AI-supported learning also improved. Conclusion:  AI speech recognition technology is a priceless aid in enhancing the English pronunciation. Feedback that was given to the learners was both regular, individualized, and timely and this resulted to a rise in accuracy and self-regulated learning.  Originality:  The study provides classroom-based evidence concerning the application of AI speech recognition in learning English pronunciation. It shows the possibilities of using AI in teaching pronunciation and increasing the level of learner autonomy and positive results of learning.

Abstract

Sektor TI telah berkembang pesat sehingga tidak hanya menjadi kebutuhan, tetapi juga standar bagi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM/UMKM) untuk beroperasi secara daring dan resmi. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengarahkan dan mengarahkan rencana pemasaran digital serta menyediakan layanan Pembuatan Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB) bagi para pelaku UMKM di Desa Tanjung Agung, Kabupaten Bulungan. Proyek ini meliputi lokakarya, sesi pendampingan, dan dukungan langsung dalam upaya pendaftaran usaha dan promosi digital. Berbagai teknik pemasaran digital seperti optimasi media sosial, pembuatan konten, dan penggunaan pasar daring diperkenalkan kepada para peserta. Ditemukan bahwa pemahaman peserta tentang metode pemasaran digital dan pentingnya pendaftaran usaha yang sah telah meningkat. Sementara itu, beberapa UMKM telah mendapatkan NIB dan mulai mengadopsi teknik promosi digital untuk mengakses pasar yang lebih luas. Inisiatif ini menyoroti peran penting pemanfaatan teknologi dan pendaftaran usaha dalam perjalanan wirausahawan pedesaan menuju peningkatan daya saing dan keberlanjutan di era ekonomi digital.
