Abstract

Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) is a disease that causes respiratory distress and pneumonia. This disease is caused by infection with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2). WHO encourages all countries to develop COVID-19 vaccines with the aim of forming herd immunity. This study aims to determine the relationship between occupational health and safety procedures and the incidence of COVID-19 in employees at Sandi Karsa Hospital Makassar. The type of research used is analytical with a cross-sectional study method. The number of samples of 200 people was obtained by total sampling technique. Data collection by filling out questionnaires and data tested with the Pearson test. The results of the correlation analysis test between occupational health and safety procedures and the incidence of COVID-19 in employees at Sandi Karsa Hospital Makassar obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.005). Therefore, the conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between occupational health and safety procedures and the incidence of COVID-19 in employees at Sandi Karsa Hospital Makassar.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) merupakan aspek fundamental dalam menjamin keamanan, mutu, dan efektivitas kegiatan laboratorium. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa mengenai K3 di laboratorium. Metode: Desain penelitian menggunakan observasional deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 28 responden yang dipilih secara total sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner dengan 10 pertanyaan tertutup yang mencakup aspek definisi K3, tujuan, penggunaan alat pelindung diri (APD), prosedur operasi standar (SOP), penanganan sampel, stabilitas reagen, penanggulangan kebakaran, pertolongan pertama pada kecelakaan, dan pengelolaan limbah infeksius. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, dengan penentuan kategori pengetahuan baik (76–100%), cukup (61–75%), dan kurang (<60%). Hasil: Tingkat pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang K3 berada pada kategori baik dengan persentase rata-rata 86,4%. Sebagian besar responden memahami dengan baik definisi K3 (100%), SOP laboratorium (100%), serta tindakan P3 apabila terjadi kecelakaan kerja (100%). Namun demikian, aspek stabilitas dan reliabilitas reagen (68%) serta pengelolaan limbah infeksius (50%) masih menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman yang rendah. Kesimpulan: Temuan ini menegaskan perlunya peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa melalui pembelajaran teori yang komprehensif, pelatihan praktis, serta simulasi keadaan darurat agar kesiapan mereka dalam menghadapi risiko kerja di laboratorium lebih optimal.
