Abstract

Background: Pekon Biha Pesisir Barat is one of the villages directly adjacent to a body of sea water. This is a concern if it is not balanced with supporting information about the importance of mangrove habitat for rehabilitation. There is very little understanding of mangroves in this area. It can be seen from the people who carry out large-scale land conversion. This PKM aims to introduce the benefits of mangroves in a module with the BIOMA (Basic Information of Mangrove) concept as an effort to prevent disaster risk at SDN 1 Biha, Pekon Biha, Pesisir Barat Lampung. Methods: BIOMA is arranged based on tiered material that stimulates the sense of sight. The Village Partner is Pekon Biha, West Coast of Lampung. The method is carried out by teaching mangrove modules and interactive videos and evaluation through pre and post-test. Result: BIOMA mangrove education media received very high attention from elementary students, there was an increase in knowledge of 36% (very good). The pre-test showed that knowledge about mangroves in the good category was only 13%, after the provision of educational media, there were 76% of students who had very good knowledge about mangroves. The novelty of this PKM is creating interactive modules with live demonstrations with storylines that are close to the community. Conclusion: This media is effective in providing information related to mangroves.

Abstract

Mangrove degradation in Bandar Lampung, specifically Kota Karang, Teluk Betung Timur, has left only 9,86% or 6 hectares, causing habitat loss and increased greenhouse gas emissions. This study identifies deficiencies in the government-led mangrove management system, emphasizing individual management leading to overlapping responsibilities and a lack of coordination. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, incorporating primary data from observations, interviews, and documentation, alongside secondary data and literature studies. Observations encompass the assessment of biophysical elements, ecological indicators, and mangrove reduction due to land conversion. Literature studies focus on identifying soil types, water pH, dissolved oxygen levels, mangrove vegetation types, and principles of integrated landscape management. SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats) analysis considers stakeholders roles, disaster risks, land conversion, pollution, over-exploitation, and community participation. Findings prompt five strategies: community empowerment, eco-friendly tourism, cross-sector cooperation, enhanced monitoring, and mangrove rehabilitation. Recommendations, rooted in integrated landscape management, target all stakeholders, with a focus on government involvement. This holistic approach addresses identified issues, striving for enhanced mangrove ecosystem sustainability through collaborative efforts and strategic planning, emphasizing the need for coordinated stakeholders action in mangrove conservation. Keywords:  degradation, land conversion, stakeholders, SWOT analysis.

Abstract

Kebutuhan ruang publik sebagai sarana beraktivitas masyarakat, penanggulangan bencana, dan pencegahan penyebaran wabah menjadi semakin penting mendekati era pasca pandemi COVID-19. Berdasarkan pedoman dari UN-Habitat tentang ruang publik yang responsif terhadap situasi COVID-19, terdapat fokus penting yang harus diperhatikan untuk menciptakan ruang publik yang efektif menciptakan ketahanan terhadap penyebaran virus COVID-19, di antaranya menekankan pada ruang publik yang fleksibel. Ketersediaan ruang yang fleksibel mengutamakan tercapainya fungsi ruang publik yang dapat memfasilitasi semua kebutuhan pengguna dari semua golongan untuk fungsi sosial, ekonomi, budaya, kesehatan, dan fasilitas temporal di dalam situasi darurat terutama dalam kondisi saat bencana yang membutuhkan respon cepat. Lapangan Kalpataru sebagai salah satu ruang publik yang menampung kegiatan masyarakat yang bervariasi di kota Bandar Lampung diambil sebagai studi kasus untuk menguji kelayakan ruang publik yang fleksibel yang dapat mendukung prinsip tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, yaitu dengan membuat analisis kelayakan ruang publik Lapangan Kalpataru dengan membandingkan fasilitas dan kondisi yang ada terhadap syarat ideal ruang publik yang fleksibel yang tanggap terhadap penyebaran wabah penyakit. Dari hasil penelitian, dapat diketahui bahwa Lapangan Kalpataru merupakan taman kota yang potensial untuk menjadi percontohan sebagai ruang publik yang adaptif terhadap penyebaran penyakit tetapi fleksibilitasnya perlu ditingkatkan melalui aksesibilitas yang lebih mudah serta desain yang lebih baik dengan perencanaan yang lebih terintegrasi.

Abstract

Di tengah berkembangnya pembangunan yang memprioritaskan percepatan dan perkembangan ekonomi, keberlanjutan dalam setiap pembangunan sering terlupakan, khususnya untuk meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan secara ekologis dan lingkungan yang sehat untuk manusia. Pasca pandemi covid-19, kebutuhan akan adanya lingkungan yang sehat semakin dirasakan urgensinya, terutama karena berkembangnya kemudahan teknologi dan mobilisasi manusia serta perubahan iklim membuat penyebaran virus dan penyakit berbahaya juga semakin mengancam. Tidak hanya ancaman dari virus dan penyakit, kesehatan mental juga menjadi perhatian utama untuk mempertimbangkan desain lanskap ruang luar yang sehat. Arsitektur lanskap sebagai salah satu disiplin ilmu yang menggabungkan desain ruang dan teknik rekayasa tapak dengan pendekatan ilmu ekologi dan sosial budaya memiliki peran penting untuk meningkatkan nilai kesehatan di ruang luar melalui perencanaan, perancangan, dan manajemen. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada evaluasi penerapan ruang luar di kampus ITERA di kompleks bangunan Laboratorium Teknik dan GKU-1 yang dimanfaatkan sebagai gedung perkuliahan terhadap prinsip desain lanskap untuk lingkungan yang sehat. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan eksplorasi prinsip-prinsip lanskap yang sehat berdasarkan kajian literatur serta penilaian terhadap area tapak sebagai studi kasus. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjadi salah satu bagian penelitian lebih lanjut untuk mempertimbangkan aspek kesehatan di dalam perencanaan dan perancangan kampus sebagai salah satu tindakan adaptasi perubahan iklim dan pembangunan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Institut Teknologi Sumatera’s outdoor spaces have a potential contribution for solving climate change issues by providing green open spaces, with some of them become public parks. However not all of green spaces have been designed to optimize its function as a part of energy efficiency to support institutional buildings, given the reality that there is still a consumption of unrenewable energy in the buildings and lack of optimization of outdoor spaces for natural lighting and air circulation. This research aims to evaluate the energy efficiency landscaping in the existing outdoor spaces and give some recommendations to support a more sustainable campus landscape. The research method used a qualitative descriptive method where the observation taken as the primary data and literature review taken as the secondary data. The literature review would result in finding out how energy efficient landscaping should work especially in an institutional landscape and compare it to the facts found through the observation. The research results find that at macro scale there was a need to consider priority scales between building and make it more compact to minimize mobilization using vehicles as it would contribute to more carbon emission. It’s also important to manage the transportation by prioritize pedestrian-oriented design instead of car-oriented design to support the energy efficiency. At a micro scale, there was a benefit found by using shade tree such as Rain tree (Samanea saman) as a canopy adjacent to the buildings. There is also a benefit to use man-made structure or shade tree over the pathway in order to provide thermal comfort. This finding hopefully could become a consideration for designing an institutional landscape that is able to encourage energy efficiency and healthier environment.
