Abstract

One of the problems in fulfilling nutrition is the knowledge or belief that consuming excess protein will result in a longer wound-healing process. Meanwhile, nutritional status is essential in fulfilling nutrients for wound healing and length of stay in postoperative fracture clients. The study aims to determine the relationship between the fulfilment of nutritional needs in participants after lower extremity fracture surgery at Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh City. This research design method is correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach with a non-probability sample technique with a sample of 83 post-surgical bone fracture patients. The calculation method uses the formula for a 10% error rate from the total population of post-fracture inpatients 123 respondents. The research location is Meuraxa Hospital, Banda Aceh, and it was conducted in March 2021. Results, there is a relationship between knowledge about nutritional fulfilment (p= 0,005), eating habits (p= 0,002), and perceptions of dietary restrictions (p= 0,002) with the length of treatment days in patients after bone fracture surgery at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh. In conclusion, nutrition support affects the length of treatment days, where knowledge, habits and abstinence can shorten treatment days.

Abstract

Public health is affected by environmental health. Poor sanitation conditions will have a bad impact on human life, ranging from a decrease in the quality of the community's environment to the pollution of drinking water sources, which can lead to an increase in cases of diarrhea and other diseases. Clean water sources, healthy latrines, and standardized Wastewater Treatment Systems (SPAL) are essential. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between basic sanitation conditions in households and the risk of diarrhea in toddlers. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was used in this study to identify the relationship between basic home sanitation, which includes the availability of clean water, the availability of healthy latrines, and the management of SPAL RT, and the possibility of diarrhea in toddlers. In this study, 63 samples of mothers from 74 populations had babies. To get information, questionnaires are distributed. The data were tested with chis-quare, and an error rate of 0.05% was taken into account. The results showed that the availability of clean water had a correlation with the possibility of diarrhea with a P_value of 0.004, the management of household waste sewers had a correlation with P_value 0.008, and the availability of good latrines had no correlation with the possibility of diarrhea with a P_value of 0.262. The results show that the Ujong Fatihah Health Center must continue to make efforts and socialization to increase public knowledge. Health staff must be educated by village officials on the importance of maintaining daily hygiene.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major public health problem in Indonesia, with the highest number of elderly female patients. This study aimed to assess the relationship between BMI, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure in elderly women. An observational study was conducted using a cross-sectional design, in which 330 women in West Aceh District aged 60 years or older were included. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression tests to determine the relationship between independent variables (systolic and diastolic blood pressure) and dependent variables (BMI, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels). The results showed that the correlation between BMI, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels and systolic blood pressure was weak (r ≤ 0.25). The BMI with diastolic blood pressure was moderate (r=0.272). Conversely, the correlation between cholesterol and blood sugar levels and diastolic blood pressure was weak (r ≤ 0.25).  Multivariate analysis showed that BMI (p<0.001), cholesterol (p<0.001), and blood sugar levels (p ≤ 0.013) were significantly associated with systolic blood pressure. Furthermore, diastolic blood pressure was significantly associated with BMI (p <0.001). In conclusion, BMI is associated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while cholesterol and blood sugar levels only contribute to systolic blood pressure but not diastolic blood pressure.
