Abstract

The low level of respect among students towards teachers, peers, and the school environment is a challenge in character building in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the Implementation of Character Building in Cultivating Student Respect through Classical Guidance Services at SMPIT Ibnu Khaldun. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with guidance counselors, principals, and students, as well as documentation. Data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the implementation of respect character building was carried out through three stages: (1) planning by integrating Islamic values and respectful character in the RPL of classical guidance; (2) implementation using interactive group discussions, role-playing, and storytelling methods; (3) evaluation through behavioral observation and student self-assessment. Supporting factors included the commitment of guidance counselors, support from school management, and Islamic culture. Obstacles in the form of heterogeneity of student character and limited time were overcome through collaboration with homeroom teachers. The implications of this study provide a practical model for Islamic schools in optimizing classical guidance services for the formation of respectful character in students.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has made social media algorithms a dominant factor in shaping people's consumption behavior. This research aims to analyze the role of social media algorithms in creating consumer culture in Indonesia's digital economy era. Using a qualitative approach and an exploratory case study design, the study involved 18 participants consisting of active consumers, digital business actors, and digital culture experts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, digital observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles & Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that social media algorithms influence consumer culture through three main mechanisms: personalized recommendation, viral loop effect, and cultural embedding. The majority of respondents admitted to trusting algorithmic recommendations more than manual searches, even encouraging more impulsive consumption behavior. Interviews with business actors revealed that algorithms accelerate trend cycles, create digital product hierarchies, and build consumer dependency. This research confirms that algorithms are not merely technical instruments but also cultural actors that shape consumption patterns and social identities. These findings have implications for digital business strategies, consumer literacy, and the formulation of consumer protection policies in the digital economy era.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has intensified parent–teen conflict in many Muslim families, particularly concerning online friendships, privacy, and moral risks. While existing digital parenting frameworks address behavioral concerns, they often overlook the cultural and religious dimensions that shape family dynamics in Islamic contexts. This study aims to explore how Islamic counseling principles can be integrated to manage and reduce parent–teen conflict related to social media use. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected from ten Muslim parent–teen dyads through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis, followed by thematic analysis. The findings indicate that conflict is driven by contrasting interpretations of digital autonomy, moral expectations, and online peer interactions. Adolescents view social media as an essential space for identity exploration, while parents perceive it as a potential moral threat. Islamic counseling was found to facilitate conflict resolution by providing a shared moral language, improving emotional communication, and fostering trust-based negotiation. The study concludes that integrating Islamic values—such as adab, amanah, and shura—with evidence-based counseling practices offers a culturally grounded framework for improving family harmony and guiding digital behavior. These insights have significant implications for counselors, educators, and policymakers in Muslim communities.

Abstract

Online learning in higher education increasingly relies on Learning Management Systems (LMS), but the quality of the user experience (UX) often determines the level of student engagement and learning outcomes. This study aims to: (1) analyze the effect of improved LMS UX on student learning motivation, (2) evaluate the effect of improved LMS UX on the quality and intensity of student collaboration, and (3) examine the effect of improved LMS UX on learning outcomes by controlling for prior ability (pretest). The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest. The sample consisted of two classes: the experimental group used an LMS with improved UX, while the control group used a standard LMS. Data were collected through motivation and collaboration questionnaires, learning outcome tests (pretest–posttest), and LMS activity logs, then analyzed using ANCOVA with the pretest as a covariate. The results showed that: (1) the learning motivation of the experimental group increased more than that of the control group, (2) student collaboration in the experimental group was more intense and of higher quality, and (3) the learning outcomes of the experimental group were higher after controlling for initial abilities. In conclusion, improving the UX of LMS contributes positively to student motivation, collaboration, and learning outcomes in online learning.
