Abstract

Although there are many medical alternatives, but the public still very much believes in the power of mantra in terms of treatment. Mantras also have sentences that contain supernatural powers and are full of mysteries. Sometimes the words spell unknown meaning. But it will give rise to magical power when speaking his words regularly and rhythmically. Mantra is also a word or prayers composed of strange words that are considered to contain the power and power to achieve what humans wantThe meaning of mantras is found in the practice of daily life in Malay society. To explore this usage, this article begins with a description of the form of mantras used and the structure of mantras that are usually found in Malay society. With qualitative analysis, this paper presents the relevance of the mantra as local wisdom in its dialectics with the development of Islam in Malay society. The results of the analysis showed that mantra tradition in Malay society is part of oral tradition that has long been practiced before Islam. Religious elements can be seen in the oral tradition of mantras used by malay people.

Abstract

Kajian bandingan struktur dan nilai budaya novel Tungku dan novel Hana Wo Wa Hakobu Imouto karya Ikeza Natsuki. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian untuk membandingkan stuktur dan nilai budaya dari novel Tungku dan novel Hana Wo Wa Hakobu Imouto karya Ikeza Natsuki diantaranya: bagaimamana struktur kedua novel, representasi nilai budaya dalam kedua novel serta hasil perbandingan struktur dan nilai budaya dalam novel Tungku dan novel Hana Wo Wa Hakobu Imouto karya Ikeza Natsuki. Objek penelitian ini yakni novel Tungku dan novel Hana Wo Wa Hakobu Imouto karya Ikeza Natsuki. Sejalan dengan penelitian kualitatatif, penelitian ini memakai metode deskriptif analisis komparatif dan pendekatan objektif yang dilandaskan pada objek karya sastra itu sendiri. Berdasarkan hasil analisis perbandingan struktur diperoleh bentuk persamaan dan perbedaan dari kedua sumber data sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa novel Tungku dan Hana Wo Wa Hakobu Imouto merupakan bentuk afirmasi dan merujuk pada semua permasalahan yang ada pada manusia. Perbedannya terletak pada stuktur dan nilai budaya.

Abstract

This study examines the humorous aspects in Syair Tertawa Sekali by Abu Muhammad Hasan Perak, a Malay syair written in Jawi script in 1926 and published in Singapore in 1927. The text tells the story of a contest of sign-language knowledge between a professor sent by the King of Spain and Khadam, a servant of the King of England. Although Khadam is ultimately praised for his intelligence, he later reveals that his answers were not based on scholarly knowledge, but on coincidence and simple reasoning. This narrative provides an important basis for understanding how humor is constructed in classical Malay literature. The study aims to identify and explain the humorous aspects found in the text. It employs a descriptive qualitative method using library research, with bisociation theory as the main analytical framework. The findings show that humor in Syair Tertawa Sekali emerges from two main narrative incongruities that create comic effects through gaps between expectation and meaning. The discussion further indicates that the text presents several types of humor, namely critical humor, riddle-based humor, and personal humor. It can be concluded that humor in this work is produced through narrative tension, interpretive contrast, and the clever use of misunderstanding, which together reinforce the literary and cultural value of the text.
