Abstract

Deaf children are children whose sense of hearing is damaged so they cannot perceive and receive sound stimuli through their hearing. Dysfunction of the sense of hearing in deaf children causes difficulty in acquiring language through hearing, thereby hampering the process of language development. This research discusses the benefits of using the Reflective Material Method (MMR) in deaf children. The aim of this research is to determine the language abilities of deaf children using the Reflective Material Method (MMR) at SLBC Muzdhalifah for class III children. This research uses a qualitative approach and the type of research used is descriptive research. The data collection methods used in this research are interview, observation and documentation methods. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers regarding the use of the Maternal Reflective Method (MMR) with deaf children in elementary class III at SLBC Muzdalifah, it has had many positive impacts, seen from the language and communication skills of SLBC Muzdalifah students.

Abstract

Children with special needs are children who have unique characteristics that differentiate them from their peers. One form of this is children with intellectual disabilities or mental retardation, who are terminologically referred to as children with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of this study is to identify teachers' strategies in improving the vocabulary of children with intellectual disabilities through picture-matching learning, the obstacles encountered in the learning process, and to understand students' responses to the picture-matching method. This study uses a qualitative approach, focusing on inductive analysis of thought processes. The results of this research show that visual learning strategies using the picture-matching method can help children with intellectual disabilities to remember new vocabulary by looking at pictures. Picture media is a teaching technique that utilizes images/photos to convey messages to students. It is expected that through images/photos, students will find it easier to develop ideas/thoughts in written form.
