Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) within the national education system faces structural challenges that are both technical-curricular and ideological-pedagogical. This study analyzes the dynamics of IRE's existence and formulates a synergistic model to strengthen student character development through a Literature Review of 13 selected articles using a Critical Content Analysis lens. Findings reveal that technical challenges include limited instructional time and overlapping values across subjects. Meanwhile, more fundamental ideological challenges stem from the epistemological dichotomy between religious and general sciences and the dominance of transmissive teaching ("banking education"). Consequently, this study proposes the Theme-Based Reciprocal Synergy Model. This model positions IRE and general subjects in a dialogical relationship through cross-subject thematic integration, pedagogical collaboration (team teaching), and holistic character assessment via portfolios. Theoretically, it strengthens the paradigm of knowledge integration, while practically providing an applicable operational framework for character education within the national curriculum by considering teacher administration policy reforms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readiness of organizational resources of PCNU Bandung City in the plan to establish a higher education institution and to map the challenges of institutional stagnation amidst modernity and the competitive urban higher education environment. This research employed a qualitative approach using a field research design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving twelve key informants representing the Syuriyah council, Tanfidziyah executive board, and the Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Institution (LPTNU) of PCNU Bandung City. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation, member checking, and prolonged engagement in the field. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the absence of a physical higher education institution directly managed by PCNU Bandung City does not indicate complete institutional stagnation. Instead, it represents an internal consolidation strategy adopted by the organization. PCNU Bandung City prioritizes strengthening human resource capacity through the PD-PKPNU cadre development program, academic resource mapping, and the maturation of institutional design before accelerating physical infrastructure development. The SWOT analysis indicates that the organization’s primary strengths lie in its strong mass base and the authority of ulama figures, while its weaknesses relate to financial independence and uneven managerial capacity. Therefore, the current incubation phase is interpreted as a defensive-rational strategy to transform socio-cultural capital into professional institutional capacity in order to face the intense competition of higher education in urban settings

Abstract

Learning outcomes evaluation through summative assessment plays a crucial role in accurately capturing student competency achievement. However, field practices indicate that test instruments are frequently developed without meticulous psychometric testing, thereby triggering measurement distortion. This study aims to map the distribution of valid and invalid test items, as well as to identify the root causes of instrument invalidity across the dimensions of content, construction, and language readability. The research method employed is a descriptive quantitative approach integrated with qualitative content analysis. Data collection was conducted through documentation of the summative test manuscript for the Islamic Religious Education and Character (PAI-BP) subject of Class XI in the Light Vehicle Engineering (TKR) department at SMK Negeri Karangpucung, along with the response data from 35 students. The data were tabulated into a binary matrix (scores of 1 and 0) and analyzed quantitatively using Excel formulas assisted by SPSS software, then compared against an r-table value of 0.334. The results demonstrated that out of the 30 multiple-choice items tested, 14 items were declared valid and 16 items were declared invalid or discarded, including an anomaly of two test items yielding negative (minus) correlation coefficients. The root causes of invalidity were identified as non-homogeneous distractors, biased stems, typographical errors, and overly lengthy text stimuli that induced reading fatigue among vocational students. The implications of this study emphasize the urgency for educators to conduct a total reconstruction of flawed item banks and to formulate more concise, applicable questions to uphold accountability and fairness within the school assessment system.
