Abstract

Mine acid water (AAT) is one of the liquid wastes produced by coal mining activities. The existence of this liquid waste can hurt the environment, so it needs to be managed. This management aims to minimize the negative impact that will be caused. This study aims to determine the stages of AAT management and analyze the need for lime and chemical organic coagulants for coal mining at PT Lematang Coal Lestari (LCL). The method used in this study is by field observation, interview methods, and documentation as supporting data. The result of this study is that the stages of AAT management carried out by PT LCL are known, starting from AAT pumping, mixing chemical organic coagulant, measuring the pH of the inlet channel, liming the inlet channel, checking the color and pH of the outlet line water, mixing the chemical organic coagulant and liming the outlet channel if necessary, as well as settling. The lime dosage required by PT LCL is 0.32 gr/l, and the chemical organic coagulant requirement is 0.11 ml/l in one AAT water management.

Abstract

PT Semen Baturaja Tbk carries out limestone mining activities using open pit methods that can cause environmental damage, especially to the structure and function of the soil. To reduce these negative impacts, post-mining reclamation activities are carried out through revegetation methods to restore the ecological conditions of the land. This study aims to analyze suitable plant species and evaluate the success rate of revegetation on Disposal 4 reclamation land with a planting year of 2020. The methods used include identifying plant species, measuring diameter, height and plant health, and quantitative analysis based on success indicators according to Permenhut P.60 / Menhut-II / 2009. From the research that has been conducted, it was found that the main use of plants is centered on sengon (Albizia chinensis) and tamarind (Tamarindus indica). The evaluation results show that the success of revegetation is quite good, indicated by the number of plants per hectare that meet minimum standards and a plant health level exceeding 80%. This study emphasizes the importance of selecting adaptive plant species and implementing appropriate maintenance in supporting the success of post-mining land reclamation.

Abstract

Abstract

DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is the primary genetic material responsible for heredity, regulation of cellular activities, and protein synthesis through DNA replication and gene expression. This study aims to review the roles of DNA, DNA replication, and gene expression in supporting the success of animal genetic engineering. The method employed was a literature review of national and international scientific publications from 2016 to 2023 obtained through Google Scholar using keywords related to genetic engineering, animal biotechnology, and DNA replication. The results indicate that recombinant DNA technology and transgenesis have successfully improved productivity, product quality, and disease resistance in animals, such as transgenic fish expressing growth hormone genes and transgenic goats overexpressing antithrombin III (ATIII). DNA replication ensures the stability of modified genetic traits, while gene expression determines the successful production of functional proteins. However, the application of animal genetic engineering requires careful consideration of biosafety, ethics, animal welfare, and environmental impacts. Overall, a comprehensive understanding of DNA molecular mechanisms supports the sustainable development of animal biotechnology.

Abstract

This study evaluates the operational synchronization between loading and hauling equipment in overburden stripping activities at PT XXY, South Sumatra, using an empirical field-based approach conducted from April to June 2025. The system architecture consists of one excavator and several Off Highway Trucks operating within a single active mining front. Primary data were obtained through direct cycle time measurements of at least 30 representative cycles per unit, supported by secondary technical parameters including bucket capacity, swell factor, hauling distance, and effective working hours. Productivity analysis indicates an initial output of 367.81 BCM/hour with a match factor of 0.96, reflecting capacity imbalance and excavator waiting time. Simulation of fleet adjustment to eight hauling units increased productivity to 420.36 BCM/hour and improved system balance while reducing specific fuel consumption from 0.41 to 0.37 liter/BCM. Efficiency evaluation demonstrates that synchronization directly influences operational utilization, energy intensity, and production target achievement.

Abstract

Mining activities involve various potential hazards that may cause occupational accidents, requiring systematic efforts to identify, assess, and control workplace risks. This study aims to identify potential hazards, analyze risk levels, and formulate risk control recommendations in the mining production area of PT Cakrawala Prima Manunggal. The study employed the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) method through field observations, interviews, documentation, and literature review. Hazard identification was conducted across six operational areas, namely the workshop, parking area, front loading, main road hauling, disposal dumping, and stock ROM. Risk assessment was performed by evaluating likelihood and severity using the AS/NZS 4360 risk matrix. The results identified 17 potential hazards, consisting of 10 high-risk hazards (59%), 6 medium-risk hazards (35%), and 1 low-risk hazard (6%). High-risk hazards were primarily associated with road conditions, equipment maneuvering areas, safety berms, dust exposure, inadequate illumination, and disposal-area conditions. Recommended controls include the proper use of personal protective equipment, installation of safety signs and barriers, improvement of road and workplace conditions, dust suppression through water spraying, workplace organization, strengthened supervision, and continuous safety education and implementation of occupational safety and health procedures. These findings provide a systematic basis for prioritizing preventive interventions and strengthening occupational risk management in mining operations.

Abstract

Coal hauling is a critical stage of mining operations with potential accident risks arising from heavy-equipment interaction, haul-road conditions, human factors, and the work environment. This study aims to analyze occupational safety in coal hauling activities using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method at PT Lematang Coal Lestari (LCL). An empirical descriptive-qualitative research design was employed, with data collected through field observations, interviews with operators, supervisors, and SHE personnel, and company documentation. The analysis involved mapping work stages, identifying potential hazards, assessing risk levels based on likelihood and severity, evaluating existing controls, and formulating additional control measures. The findings indicate that hazards were identified in the pre-start inspection, loading, hauling, dumping, and return stages, including vehicle collisions, vehicle rollover, slippery roads, dust, blind spots, excessive speed, and non-compliance with safety procedures. Existing controls include PPE use, daily inspections, toolbox meetings, haul-road maintenance, speed regulation, radio communication, safety signage, and field supervision. The findings demonstrate that JSA provides a structured framework for linking task-specific hazards with operational control measures. Consistent implementation of these controls and periodic JSA updates are required to maintain operational safety and strengthen risk management in coal hauling activities. Continuous monitoring of road conditions and worker compliance is also necessary to address changing operational risks.
