Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores Indonesia's position as one of the main shrimp exporting countries in the world, with a special focus on frozen shrimp exports, where Indonesia is in fourth position globally. This signals significant opportunities for future expansion. The aim of this research is to assess the superiority and competitiveness of Indonesian frozen shrimp in the Japanese market, relative to other exporting countries. This analysis is based on secondary data collected from UN Comtrade over a fourteen year period, from 2011 to 2024, and uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Comparative advantage is calculated using the RCA and ISP methods, while competitive advantage is measured through EPD. The results show that Indonesian frozen shrimp have strong comparative competitiveness, with the highest RCA value reaching 317.32 and ISP indicating the maturity phase. However, in terms of competitive advantage, there is still room for improvement, as EPD places the product in the falling star category. To increase the competitiveness and value of frozen shrimp exports, it is necessary to implement higher quality standards and use geographical indications. In addition, the government must play a key role in developing competitive advantages, through downstreaming, innovative product design, increasing marketing intelligence, and opening trade diplomacy channels with new countries that have the potential to become markets. Shrimp farmers must also be supported by the government to understand domestic consumer market preferences and segmentation, which will help reduce dependence on imports and improve the competitive position of Indonesian frozen shrimp in the Japanese market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the volume of carp fish purchases in traditional markets in Bogor City. The research applies a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 50 respondents. The variables examined include the price of carp fish, consumer income, the price of substitute goods (tilapia), and the number of family members. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that the price of carp fish has a negative effect on purchase volume, while consumer income, the price of substitute goods, and the number of family members have positive effects. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.54, indicating that 54% of the variation in carp fish purchase volume can be explained by the model, while the remaining is influenced by other factors outside the study. The F-test results indicate that all independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on the purchase volume of carp fish. Furthermore, elasticity analysis shows that the demand for carp fish is inelastic with respect to price, income, and substitute goods price, but elastic with respect to the number of family members.

Abstract

The development of transmigration areas often faces problems in determining superior commodities that have not yet considered the interrelationships between market aspects, regional potential, downstream processing, and community involvement in an integrated manner. This study aims to determine the priority of integrated agribusiness-based superior commodities in the Mutiara Transmigration Area, Muna Regency, using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The research was conducted through interviews, field observations, and assessments by stakeholders consisting of farmers, agricultural extension workers, village government officials, academics, and relevant agencies. The results show that the market aspect is the primary consideration in the development of superior commodities in the transmigration area, followed by land suitability and production sustainability. Coconut is designated as the main superior commodity because it has broad market prospects and downstream processing potential through derivative products such as VCO, coconut milk, desiccated coconut, shell charcoal, cocopeat, and cocofiber. Beef cattle have the potential to be developed through meat processing and organic fertilizer based on integrated crop-livestock systems. Corn is developed as raw material for layer chicken feed to support the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), while bananas are developed through home-based processing businesses such as chips and snack products. These results indicate the interrelationship between commodities in supporting an integrated regional agribusiness system. This study shows that the development of agribusiness in transmigration areas should not only focus on production but also be directed toward an integrated agribusiness system based on local potential, commodity downstream processing, and strengthening linkages between agricultural subsectors. The research findings are expected to serve as a basis for formulating policies for the development of sustainable, adaptive, and market-oriented transmigration areas.
