Abstract

Traditional “pesantren” is the oldest education institution in Indonesia, in which student or santri studies many important materials in Islamic studies such as : Tauhid, Fiqh, and Tasawwuf. Arabic language as the language of the two main references in Islam, Quran and Hadith,  and other classical reference in Islam is also  the main object of study in Pesantren  because of its importance as a means for understanding the references. The Arabic language is studied deeply especially in the aspect of grammar (qawaid). For this reason, pesantren is not only the center of Islamic studies but also the root of Arabic language in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Ma’aniy and Pragmatics are two field of study that is closely related to language. Both of them have different background. The Ma’aniy was born from the intention to discover the miracle of Qur’an from its language. On the other hand, pragmatics was born from the study of language phenomena in the forms of human utterances. The ma’aniy was born in eastern world, and pragmatics was from the west. Through contrastive analytic and conventional text study this paper is aimed at comparing the epistemological aspects of those two field of study, especially at three different aspects of pragmatics, theory of speech act, implicature and relevance. Those three aspects are found out the similarities with the aspects in ma’aniy. The findings are first, ontologically, there is similarity between ma’aniy and pragmatics, especially in discussing the forms and meaning of speech that is influenced by speech context. Many definitions of those two field of studies have similarities. Second, epistemologically, those two field of studies have similarities, for example, in ma’aniy there is “kalam khabariy” and “kalam insya’iy”, that is similar to the maxim violation in the speech implicature in pragmatics.

Abstract

Education is a process of individual continuously learning and adaptation to the cultural values and social ideals. Education is a comprehensive process including all the aspects of life to prepare them to be able to face all the challenges. Considering the definition, we will see how dominant the aspects of human life style management in order to be in accordance with the universe are. An education process is expected to produce tolerance, egalitarianism, and skills to actualize one's self in the constellation of human life dynamics. It is also expected to produce peace and harmony as a part of ideal community with the educated people as the members. It means that the education process is considered failed if it produces totalitarian cannibalism that can easily arouse conflicts among people. Therefore, the understanding of an ideal Islamic education that is accommodative to the values of plurality and brotherhood among people should emerge. Finally, the values can be the source of aspiration in rearranging the religious concept of this nation to regain the peace that has once been disappeared because of the conflict among the religious communities, through education Pendidikan adalah proses individu yang terus belajar dan beradaptasi dengan nilai budaya dan cita-cita sosial. Pendidikan adalah proses yang komprehensif termasuk semua aspek kehidupan untuk mempersiapkan mereka untuk dapat menghadapi semua tantangan. Dengan mempertimbangkan definisinya, kita akan melihat betapa dominannya aspek manajemen gaya hidup manusia agar sesuai dengan alam semesta tersebut. Proses pendidikan diharapkan bisa menghasilkan toleransi, egalitarianisme, dan keterampilan untuk mengaktualisasikan diri seseorang dalam konvergensi dinamika kehidupan manusia. Hal ini juga diharapkan dapat menghasilkan kedamaian dan harmoni sebagai bagian dari komunitas ideal dengan orang-orang terpelajar sebagai anggotanya. Artinya, proses pendidikan dianggap gagal jika menghasilkan kanibalisme totaliter yang bisa dengan mudah menimbulkan konflik antar manusia. Oleh karena itu, pemahaman tentang pendidikan Islam ideal yang akomodatif terhadap nilai pluralitas dan persaudaraan antarmanusia diharapkan muncul. Akhirnya, nilai-nilai bisa menjadi sumber aspirasi dalam menata ulang konsep religius bangsa ini untuk mendapatkan kembali kedamaian yang dulunya lenyap karena konflik antar umat beragama, melalui pendidikan.

Abstract

Violence against women is actually a phenomenon which in its study has a long historical aspect, this is considering the high level of repatriation in the world history stage. History ink is always faithful to write events after event, war for the battle in which is full of violence against women. This paper describes the position of women from different perspectives and theology of Islam. Furthermore, this paper discusses violence against women in religious social phenomena. With our shared understanding that violence against women can be approached by observing the religious understanding of the perpetrators of violence, then the search for a solution to the social problem can begin with the rearrangement of our religious beliefs in particular how religion actually views gender. Kekerasan terhadap wanita sebenarnya merupakan sebuah fenomena yang dalam kajiannya mempunyai aspek kesejarahan yang panjang, hal ini mengingat tingginya tingkat keterulangannya dalam pentas sejarah dunia. Tinta sejarah senantiasa setia menuliskan peristiwa demi peristiwa, peperangan demi peperangan yang di dalamnya sarat dengan praktek kekerasan terhadap wanita. Tulisan ini menjabarkan kedudukan wanita dari beragam perspektif dan teologi Islam. Lebih lanjut, tulisan ini membahas mengenai kekerasan terhadap wanita dalam fenomena sosial keagamaan. Dengan pemahaman kita bersama, bahwa kekerasan terhadap wanita bisa didekati dengan mengamati pemahaman agama dari pelaku kekerasan tadi, maka pal­ing tidak pencarian solusi bagi problem sosial itu bisa kita mulai dari penataan kembali .pemahaman agama kita khususnya bagaimana sebenarnya agama memandang tentang gender.

Abstract

Exclusivism has left a dark history. Heterogeneous life, mutual suspicion, and fighting over adherents became genealogical roots and the forerunner of the seeds of religious exclusivism. This background of conditions has resulted in the potential for religious exclusivism to start infecting Christians and Muslims in the multicultural base on the outskirts of Malang Regency. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the scene on the multicultural floor of Malang Regency, which has been spitting on the narrative of the rivalry of truth, has metamorphosed into a feud of goodness. Then, the method used by the researcher is included in field research and uses a phenomenological perspective. The results of this study, namely the pandemic situation, forced religious patterns to change. In this context, the sacred forum in Malang Regency reorients the rivalry of truth with various things, such as emphasizing tolerance, religious moderation, and considering the Covid-19 pandemic to be a common enemy, so that there is value for unity.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the social construction of visually impaired students regarding the urgency of Arabic language education at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Arabic plays an essential role in Islamic academic fields; however, accessibility for visually impaired students in learning the language remains challenging. Using a qualitative approach, this case study explores the experiences, challenges, and perceptions of visually impaired students in relation to Arabic language learning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with several visually impaired students and the head and staff of the Disability Services Center (PLD) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The findings reveal that visually impaired students have a strong understanding of the urgency of Arabic, both for academic purposes and for enhancing future career opportunities. However, they also voiced various barriers, including limited support facilities and incompatible technology with their needs. This study is expected to provide insights for developing more inclusive policies in Arabic language education for visually impaired students in Islamic higher education settings.
