Abstract

Myalgia is a term for muscle pain. Myalgia originates from Greek, where "myo" means muscle and "algos" means pain. Muscle pain is a common ailment among the general public. The symptoms and location of muscle pain vary from person to person, depending on the activity and the cause of the muscle pain itself. The prevalence of myalgia ranges from 50-62% of the total population worldwide. In Indonesia, the prevalence of myalgia sufferers ranges from 45-59%. Myalgia arises from excessive muscle activity. This can be reduced by substituting chemicals with natural ingredients, one of which is the Chamomile plant. Chamomile is known as an herbal remedy for treating diseases. The Chamomile plant contains apigenin, which functions like benzodiazepine, providing a hypnotic effect by binding to GABA A receptors in the central nervous system, thereby inducing a sedative effect and causing muscle relaxation. The aromatherapy roll-on is made by measuring the ingredients according to the formula. This community service activity was carried out at SMK PGRI 2 Cimahi, with 21 students participating. The results of the counseling activities were beneficial in increasing the students' knowledge.

Abstract

Background: Bipolar affective disorder is a mental disorder that attacks the psychological condition, characterized by mood swings in the form of mania and depression. The high number of mental health cases in Indonesia is one of the challenges of treatment, especially in the pharmaceutical world. Evaluation of drug use is a structured quality assurance program, and provides assurance that the drugs given are appropriate, safe, and effective. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the use of trihexyphenidyl in patients with bipolar affective disorder at the West Java Provincial Mental Hospital. Methods: The research design used was a retrospective observational study with a descriptive cross-sectional approach. The data source used in the study was written information in the medical records of mental patients diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder who received trihexyphenidyl drug therapy at the West Java Provincial Mental Hospital. Results: Based on the results of the study, 93 patients diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder using trihexyphenidyl were obtained, the results of the ANOVA test on the evaluation of drug use showed a significance value of 0.021 <0.05 so that it can be concluded that the data has differences from the research variables. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the evaluation of the use of trihexyphenidyl drugs in patients with bipolar affective disorder is appropriate and in accordance with the rationality of drug use.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a global health problem that continues to rise, with projections reaching 700 million cases by 2045. In Indonesia, this disease is the third leading cause of death. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to insulin deficiency or dysfunction. DM is classified into type 1, type 2, other types, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 DM occurs due to autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells, whereas type 2 DM arises from insulin resistance and decreased insulin production. Major risk factors include unhealthy diets, fast food consumption, physical inactivity, obesity, stress, age, and family history. Lifestyle changes have also contributed to the increased prevalence of DM, particularly due to sedentary behavior. Jackfruit, as a fruit with a medium–high glycemic index, has the potential to raise blood glucose levels. This study was conducted to assess the effect of jackfruit consumption on blood glucose using the POCT method as a rapid detection tool to reduce the risk of complications and death due to DM. Objectives: observing the increase in glucose levels before and after consuming jackfruit. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted through structured interviews and blood glucose measurements using POCT before and after jackfruit consumption with three portion categories. Data were recorded based on the number of fruits consumed. Data processing was carried out using Excel and SPSS, with normality tests performed to determine the use of either the Paired Sample T-Test or the Wilcoxon test, depending on the data distribution. Results: The study showed that jackfruit consumption caused a significant increase in blood glucose levels, with an average rise of 14 mg/dL after 2 hours. Analysis using POCT, normality tests, and the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant difference before and after consumption. The magnitude of the increase was influenced by the glycemic index, fruit ripeness, and the respondents’ conditions. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the results showed a p-value of 0.00, indicating a statistically significant difference. This means that consuming jackfruit can increase blood glucose levels.
