Abstract

A significant challenge for developing nations, including Indonesia, is the occurrence of poverty. An example of a poverty-stricken area based on the number of poor people is Cianjur Regency. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the influence of religiosity, work ethics, age, education, occupation, and gender on the poverty level. It also intended to examine the perspectives of churches in Cianjur regarding poverty and its role in poverty mitigation. The methodology used was a mixed method with 100 respondents, and the sample size was determined proportionally and randomly from churches located in Cianjur Regency. The results from the BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics) showed that 18% of the 100 respondents lived in poverty, as opposed to the remaining 82%. In terms of work ethics, 71%, 29%, and 0% belonged to the high, moderate, and low categories, respectively. The independent variables that significantly affect the poverty level are religiosity, age, and occupation. The independent variables that were not significant were work ethics, education, and sex. This study also shows that the five churches had diverse perspectives on poverty. Some actively implemented programs are aimed at poverty reduction, while others lack specific initiatives to address poverty.

Abstract

Holistic service in Christian theology emphasizes the integration of social service and evangelism as integral parts of the church's mission. Participant-centered training methods, such as LePSAS, are utilized to facilitate participant-oriented learning. These activities employ LePSAS training methods applied in community service activities to equip participants with knowledge and skills concerning holistic service. Activity evaluations indicate that participants gain a deeper understanding of holistic service and community development. Despite challenges such as field practice session cancellations, participants are still able to implement their learning in their service contexts. The implementation of holistic service through LePSAS training methods contributes positively to expanding participants' understanding and skills in applying holistic service. Activity evaluations serve as a foundation for developing more effective training programs in the future. Thus, these activities underscore the importance of holistic service in the context of Christian theology and the effectiveness of participant-centered training methods in strengthening holistic service.

Abstract

PkM within the framework of Progsif 2023 involves several crucial stages. These stages encompass preparation, execution, monitoring, evaluation, and publication. Through these stages, the PkM aims to provide benefits to the community, promote biblical values, and integrate an understanding of religious values into everyday life. The event is scheduled to span five days with a focus on understanding specific biblical texts relevant to themes such as sustainable living, the relationship between humanity and nature, and the importance of environmental preservation. Participants will receive guidance to help them apply these values in their daily lives. Furthermore, it is essential to note that this event also involves ongoing monitoring and evaluation stages. This means that the PkM team will continuously monitor and evaluate the event's progress during its implementation, enabling the identification of areas requiring improvement or adjustment. In summary, Progsif 2023 and its related PkM activities have a clear goal of providing benefits to the community while promoting biblical values, environmental stewardship, and a better understanding of humanity's role in creating a sustainable environment. Overall, this represents a positive step in supporting community engagement centered around religious and environmental principles.
