Abstract

Puskesmas Dlingo has initiated Basic Occupational Health Services (BOHS) in the Mangunan forest tourism village since 2019. To develop the BOHS, the program manager of the BOHS at the health centre is to carry out mentoring functions during the initiation of formation, coaching tasks after the UKK post is formed, and monitor and evaluate the implementation of the UKK post. Since its establishment, this UKK post has never been assessed for its activity. The purpose of this study was to assess BOHS in Mangunan forest tourism. This study is qualitative research with a case study approach. The informants consisted of nine people: the BOHS program manager and the head of the Puskesmas Dlingo, workers/cadres, the BOHS supervisor from the Bantul Regency Health Office, and the tourism manager.  All informants were selected purposively. Data were collected using in-depth interview methods and analyzed thematically. The components to assess are the number of cadres, integrated health service activities, promotive and preventive activities, BOHS facilities, recording and reporting, and revolving funds. The study found that all components indicate the BOHS is currently less active and tends to be inactive. Puskesmas policies are needed through budgets, necessary training in occupational health empowerment, and networking.

Abstract

Hospital food waste and its determinant factor among inpatients at PKU Muhammadiyah Tegal HospitalBackground: The amount of food waste reflects patients’ acceptance of the food served in the hospital and is used to assess food service quality. Patient satisfaction and compliance with the hospital’s food therapy will speed up the patient’s recovery and prevent malnutrition. Objective: This study aims to assess the level of food waste as well as the factors that influence food waste among patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Tegal. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional research design was employed, involving 68 respondents purposively selected from PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in October 2024. The percentage of food waste was estimated using visual comstock observation with six standards over 3 days of the menu cycle at the hospital. Ten aspects of food service satisfaction data were collected through interviews using standard questionnaires. Descriptive data analysis and an independent t-test were used to determine the difference in satisfaction levels between groups of patients with low food waste (<25%) and high food waste (>25%).Results: The average food waste rate was determined at 27%. Patients in the internal medicine ward contributed the greatest to food waste, accounting for 46.7% compared to other wards. Vegetable meals account for 35.5% of all food waste. Patients with low food waste reported considerably higher satisfaction scores than patients with high food waste, particularly in terms of meal appearance, cleanliness of dining utensils, and staff appearance. Conclusions: The aspects of food appearance, cleanliness of dining utensils, and staff appearance significantly influence the leftover food served by the hospital.

Abstract

Background: Elementary school children are in a period of rapid growth and development, which requires adequate nutritional intake. Unfortunately, many school-age children skip lunch or consume meals that lack nutritional value. School lunch programs have been proven to improve nutritional status, learning concentration, and student attendance. In Indonesia, school lunch programs have not been implemented evenly, particularly in public schools. The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) has the potential to serve as a model area for the implementation of such programs; however, a readiness assessment is required beforehand, considering the perspectives of schools. Methods: This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method. Samples were taken from several public elementary schools located in urban and semi-urban areas of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to school principals and key decision-makers within the school environment. The data were analyzed descriptively to identify trends, logistical readiness, and stakeholder support. This study obtained ethical approval from the Research Ethics Committee of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan with the approval code 012408284, issued on September 6, 2024.Result: Based on the survey results, it was found that school readiness in terms of infrastructure still faces several challenges. Though the school stated overall readiness, this school lunch program gives benefits such as food behavior change, increasing nutritional status, increasing student performance, and school reputation. Conclusion: Most elementary and Islamic elementary schools (MI) in Yogyakarta reported that they are not yet fully prepared to implement the school lunch program. However, they expressed willingness to participate if supported by the local government and provided with clear technical implementation guidelines. An initial intervention in the form of a pilot project is necessary to evaluate the program’s effectiveness and to make necessary operational adjustments

Abstract

The study aimed to assess the association between pre-conception health and nutrition Knowledge-Attitude-Practice (KAP) and anemia among Pre-Marital Women (PMW). In this cross-sectional study, Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) measurement, 24-hour food recall interview, blood sample collection, and validated KAP questionnaire interview were conducted to 111 PMW in Sleman in 2021. The study found that 21.6%, 14.4%, and 49.1% of PMW had Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), anemia, and lack of minimum dietary diversity, respectively. The proportions of PMW with adequate KAP were 70.5%, 67.8%, and 64.3%, respectively. Pre-conception health and nutrition practices are associated with anemia (p<0.05), but knowledge and attitude are not.
