Abstract

Background - Community Learning Centers (PKBM) serve as critical non-formal education institutions in Indonesia, yet governance challenges persist across leadership, collaboration, accountability, policy alignment, and digital dimensions. Research Urgency - Despite growing research on PKBM, a comprehensive synthesis focusing specifically on governance dimensions remains limited. Post-pandemic digital transformation introduces new governance dynamics requiring systematic analysis. Research Objectives - This study aims to: (1) systematically review literature on PKBM governance in Indonesia; (2) identify key governance dimensions influencing implementation; (3) develop an integrated multi-level governance framework; (4) identify critical challenges; and (5) provide evidence-based recommendations. Research Method - Following the PRISMA framework, 18 studies from Google Scholar, Scopus, and ERIC (2022–2026) were analyzed using a multi-level governance theory. Thematic analysis employed an integrated deductive-inductive approach. Research Findings - Results reveal five key governance dimensions: transformational leadership capacity, multi-stakeholder collaboration, accountability mechanisms, policy alignment, and digital governance. Cross-study synthesis identifies three structural contradictions: the standardization-flexibility paradox, the accountability pluralism dilemma, and the digital equity tension. Research Conclusion - Governance plays a decisive role in shaping PKBM effectiveness, quality, and sustainability. The integrated multi-level framework illustrates complex interdependencies across micro, meso, and macro governance levels, advancing governance theory for community-based non-formal education in developing country contexts. Research Novelty/Contribution - This study provides the first comprehensive multi-level governance framework specifically tailored to community-based non-formal education in developing country contexts, synthesizing fragmented literature into a coherent theoretical model and offering evidence-based policy recommendations for strengthening inclusive lifelong learning ecosystems.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of Islamic boarding school entrepreneurship learning in shaping the entrepreneurial character of students in Islamic boarding schools throughout West Java. The research is motivated by the importance of developing the entrepreneurial character of the younger generation in facing economic challenges and the high rate of youth unemployment in Indonesia. Islamic boarding schools, as community-based educational institutions, have great potential in integrating character education with entrepreneurial practices through various productive economic activities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site design at several Islamic boarding schools in West Java that have active entrepreneurship programs. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis and cross-case analysis techniques to identify patterns of Islamic boarding school entrepreneurship learning in shaping the entrepreneurial character of students. The results show that entrepreneurship learning in Islamic boarding schools takes place through the integration of formal and non-formal education, and direct practice in Islamic boarding school business units. The learning process is carried out through the example of kyai (Islamic clerics), the habituation of productive work, the involvement of students in business activities, and the internalization of Islamic values in daily economic activities. The entrepreneurial character traits developed include independence, discipline, responsibility, hard work, creativity, leadership, risk-taking, and Islamic-based business ethics such as sidiq, amanah, and istiqamah. This research demonstrates that Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) have a strategic role as a character-based entrepreneurial education ecosystem relevant to the development of public education in Indonesia

Abstract

Recovery from drug addiction is a complex process that requires a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects. This research explores Țibbun Nabawī, a prophetic medicine approach derived from the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad, as an effective rehabilitation strategy for victims of drug abuse at at Yayasan Pengasih Insan Karima (YAPIKA), Indonesia. Unlike conventional rehabilitation methods, Țibbun Nabawī integrates spiritual healing with physical and psychological recovery, which plays an important role in rebuilding social norms and personal identity. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection methods include in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The analytical technique utilized is the source triangulation analysis method, which incorporates principles from spiritual-based recovery and social identity theory. The research findings reveal that the integration of Islamic values in rehabilitation strengthens individuals' motivation to overcome addiction. Spiritual practices such as Qur'an memorization, ażān therapy, and Islamic studies significantly enhance spiritual awareness, while group therapy and social skills training help rebuild social relationships. This study contributes to the discourse of faith-based rehabilitation by mapping Țibbun Nabawī as a structured and holistic addiction recovery strategy. The findings offer practical recommendations for policy makers, rehabilitation centers, and communities to implement a more effective and sustainable recovery framework. Ultimately, this study highlights the importance of integrating Islamic teachings in social rehabilitation, which paves the way for further research on the effectiveness of faith-based approaches in treating addiction.

Abstract

Background - The low level of productive digital literacy skills among equality education learners in Community Learning Centers (CLC) has become a major challenge to community empowerment in the digital era. Digital literacy training in CLC is still conventional, lecture-centered, and lacks contextual relevance. Research Urgency -  Non-formal education institutions need innovative and participatory learning models to strengthen digital competence and creativity among learners. However, existing digital literacy programs remain limited to basic operational skills and have not yet developed productive digital capabilities. Research Objectives - This study aims to develop a productive digital literacy training model based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) that is innovative, participatory, and contextually appropriate for equality education learners in CLC. Research Method - The research used a modified Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) model, consisting of nine stages: preliminary study, planning, initial product development, expert validation, limited trial, first product revision, large-scale trial, second product revision, and dissemination. The research subjects were equality education learners from three PKBM in West Bandung Regency. Research Findings - The findings show that learners’ productive digital literacy skills were initially low, particularly in content evaluation, knowledge construction, and digital content creation. The developed PjBL model was validated as highly feasible (average score of 82.7%). Model implementation demonstrated good adherence to the PjBL syntax (85.2%) and positive responses from both learners and tutors (85.3%). The large-scale trial showed a 25.4% improvement in digital literacy, with N-Gain values categorized as moderate to high. Research Conclusion - The PjBL-based training model effectively enhances the productive digital literacy skills of PKBM learners, promoting active learning and digital creativity in non-formal education settings. Research Novelty/Contribution - This study contributes theoretically by integrating the PjBL framework into digital literacy training within non-formal education, and practically by offering an applicable model for PKBM institutions, policymakers, and community educators to improve digital empowerment programs.

Abstract

Background - A significant proportion of Community Learning Center (CLC) alumni transition directly into the workforce upon graduation rather than pursuing higher academic education. This trend necessitates the acquisition of practical life skills that are highly relevant to current labor market demands. Research Urgency - Internship programs within CLCs are pivotal in bridging the gap between classroom instruction and professional requirements. Systematic evaluation of these programs, particularly in the field of graphic design, is essential to ensure that graduates' competencies meet nationally recognized standards. Research Objectives - This study aims to evaluate the development of graphic design competencies among CLC learners through an internship program implemented during the 2022-2023 academic year. Research Method - A non-experimental quantitative approach with descriptive statistical techniques was employed. The study involved a sample of 20 CLC participants. Data collection utilized assessment rubrics adapted from the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) issued by the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia to measure the participants' competency levels. Research Findings - The findings reveal significant competency progression among the learners. Participants who initially possessed only basic design principles at the program's inception achieved novice-level proficiency by its conclusion. This underscores the effectiveness of structured internship programs in enhancing technical skills. Research Conclusion - Competency-based internship programs are effectively proven to prepare CLC learners for successful integration into the professional landscape by fulfilling established work competency standards. Research Novelty/Contribution - This research provides a practical reference for other CLCs in designing effective internship programs, specifically in the graphic design domain, by aligning non-formal curricula with SKKNI standards to enhance graduate employability.
