Abstract

The conflict between Long-tailed Monkeys and the villagers of Tumbang Tahai Village is a significant issue that must be addressed. Two hundred long-tailed monkeys colonies have infiltrated communities, causing damage and disruption to the facilities of the villagers. It is widely acknowledged that enhancing community education is critical in addressing the challenges afflicting Tumbang Tahai Village. This activity aims to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the villagers of Tumbang Tahai Village regarding managing and resolving conflicts with long-tailed monkeys, including strategies for responding to bites or assaults and initiatives to reduce conflict. Residents of RT 3 / RW 1 Tumbang Tahai Village, Bukit Batu District, Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan, comprised the implementing partners. The method utilised in Community Service is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which aims to empower community members to become agents of change through knowledge acquisition. On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, community service activities were conducted at the SDN 03 Tumbang Tahai. These activities consisted of multiple stages: observation, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Activities include distributing materials on conflict prevention and the risk of zoonotic transmission, discussion, seed distribution for monitoring purposes, and assessment via surveys, pre-tests, and post-tests. The evaluation results demonstrated a discernible enhancement in knowledge after the training. On average, the post-test score rose from 51% on the pre-test to 97.5%. This indicates that the participants' understanding of conflict resolution and zoonotic improved after their participation in the socialisation program.

Abstract

Terbatasnya stok serbuk gergaji kayu sengon sebagai bahan baku baglog dapat mempengaruhi kelangsungan produksi jamur kuping (Auricularia auricula). Pemanfaatan limbah pertanian sebagai bahan baku alternatif baglog jamur kuping belum banyak diungkap. Ketiga jenis limbah pertanian yang tersedia melimpah di dataran rendah, yaitu jerami padi (PJP), potongan ampas tebu (PAT) dan serbuk gergaji kayu kelapa (SKK). Peforma pertumbuhan dan hasil panen jamur kuping pada ketiga jenis limbah pertanian tersebut yang dikombinasikan dengan dedak (0, 5, 10 dan 15%) diinvestigasi pada penelitian ini. Serbuk kayu sengon (SKS) digunakan sebagai kontrol. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa waktu tercepat miselium penuh, pembentukan pinhead dan panen pertama dicapai berturut-turut pada hari ke-17-20, 29-32, dan 39-40 inkubasi oleh baglog SKK. Pengamatan pada hasil panen menunjukkan PJP adalah substrat terbaik dibanding SKS (sebagai substrat kontrol), SKK dan PAT. Sebaliknya, peningkatan konsentrasi dedak berdampak negatif pada hasil panen baglog PJP. Performa hasil panen terbaik diperoleh pada baglog PJP dengan dedak 0 % yaitu 13,67 g (berat basah) dengan berat baglog 240 g (berat basah). Hasil ini lebih tinggi 64,11 % dari hasil panen baglog SKS dengan dedak 5-10%. Pada akhirnya, hasil studi ini merekomendasikan PJP sebagai substrat alternatif pengganti SKS.

Abstract

Wood ear mushroom is one of the edible mushrooms that are in great demand by the community and widely consumed in Indonesia. Wood ear mushroom cultivation has been inefficient; however, it has economic and nutritional value. Wood ear mushrooms naturally grow on woody media containing cellulose and hemicellulose. The aim of this study was to determine the potential of bamboo waste as a growing medium for the growth and yield of wood ear mushrooms. This research was conducted using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with one factor and five replicates. The treatments used are different baglog media compositions: B1: 100% sawdust waste; B2: 100% bamboo waste; B3: 75% bamboo waste + 25% sawdust waste; B4: 50% bamboo waste + 50% sawdust waste; B5: 25% bamboo waste + 75% sawdust waste. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 baglogs. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and 5% of the Tukey HSD test. This study provides the following result: mycelium filled the baglog at 70 days after inoculation (DAI), B1 and B5 had the fastest time of mycelium growth and filled the baglog at 42 DAI. The fastest primordia appearance times were at B1 and B5 at 51 DAI and 52 DAI. The optimal treatment overall is the B5 treatment, indicating that bamboo waste can only replace 25% of the whole mixed media with sawdust

Abstract

Ramin (Gonystylus bancanus Miq. Kurz) is one of the typical woody plants that live in peat swamp forest ecosystems, especially in Central Kalimantan. Ramin plants have endophytic fungi that live in plant cells that can contaminate tissue culture propagation. In addition, endophytic fungi in ramin plants have not been widely studied, both in terms of characterization and potential. This study aimed to identify and analyze endophytic fungi residing in ramin plants. The methods used were media preparation and tool preparation, isolation of endophytic fungi, macro- and microscopic characterization of endophytic fungi, and data analysis. This study successfully isolated five endophytic fungi from G. bancanus plants, including 4 isolates (BR1, BR2, BR3, BR4) derived from stems and 1 isolate (BDR) derived from stems and leaves. The characters of these endophytic fungi are white and black in color, smooth and rough texture, and hyphae with and without hyphae (asepta). Endophytic fungi in ramin plants pose a challenge for propagating ramin tissue culture because they become contaminants. However, endophytic fungi certainly have their own benefits in the bodies of ramin plants and other potential benefits for humans. This research can serve as an initial study to determine the potential of endophytic fungi in ramin plants and to provide new information on handling contaminants in ramin plant tissue culture.
