<![CDATA[Abstract. Desquamation is a process of sloughing off dead skin cells or keratin in the outermost layer of the epidermis that can accumulate on the skin's surface. Lip scrub is a semi-solid dosage form that contains rather coarse ingredients to remove dead skin cells on the lips, where the hard layer above it will be replaced with a new, healthier layer of cells. Sunflower seed oil contains active compounds that are emollient, namely oleic acid. Emollients generally consist of lipids that work by filling the gaps of inter-corneocyte cluster gaps in desquamated skin to moisturize and increase skin flexibility. Currently, coffee waste is one of the problems that exist in the environment. In this study, coffee grounds are reprocessed as an effort to overcome the environmental impact of coffee waste, which functions as a lip scrub. In this study, lip scrub was prepared in different concentration variations namely 3, 6, 9, and 12% to determine its ability to remove dead skin cells. The final evaluation of the lip scrub includes physicochemical tests, stability, and dead skin cell lifting power. The results of physicochemical evaluation and stability using the cycling test method showed that the physically stable formula was formula B2. The evaluation of the dead skin cell lifting power analyzed by the one-way ANOVA statistical test showed that Formula B2 with 6% coffee grounds concentration, which was able to lift dead skin cells as much as 0.161 grams, provides significantly different dead skin cell lifting power against the control (+) (P<0.05). Abstract. Deskuamasi adalah proses pengelupasan sel kulit mati atau keratin pada lapisan terluar epidermis yang dapat menumpuk pada permukaan kulit. Lip scrub merupakan bentuk sediaan setengah padat yang mengandung bahan agak kasar untuk mengangkat sel kulit mati pada bibir, dimana lapisan keras di atasnya akan digantikan dengan lapisan sel baru yang lebih sehat. Minyak biji bunga matahari mengandung senyawa aktif yang bersifat emolien yaitu asam oleat. Emolien umumnya terdiri dari lipid yang bekerja dengan mengisi celah cluster gap interkorneosit pada kulit yang mengalami deskuamasi untuk melembabkan dan meningkatkan fleksibilitas kulit. Saat ini limbah kopi menjadi salah satu masalah yang ada pada lingkungan. Pada penelitian ini ampas kopi diolah kembali sebagai upaya untuk mengatasi dampak lingkungan limbah kopi, dimana berfungsi sebagai scrub bibir. Pada penelitian ini lip scrub dibuat dalam berbagai variasi konsentrasi yaitu 3, 6, 9, dan 12% untuk mengetahui kemampuannya dalam mengangkat sel kulit mati. Evaluasi akhir lip scrub meliputi uji fisikokimia, stabilitas, dan daya angkat sel kulit mati. Hasil evaluasi fisikokimia dan stabilitas menggunakan metode cycling test menunjukkan formula yang stabil secara fisik yaitu Formula B2. Evaluasi daya angkat sel kulit mati dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa formula B2 dengan konsentrasi ampas kopi sebesar 6% dimana mampu mengangkat sel kulit mati sebanyak 0,161 gram, memberikan daya angkat sel kulit mati yang berbeda bermakna terhadap kontrol (+) (sig. < α = 0,05).]]>
