Abstract

The digital era leaves problems of credibility and authenticity for those who memorize the Qur'an. The question of credibility could be seen by the decrease in the quality of reading, such as makharij and tajwid. In contrast, the question of authentication is evidenced by the low quality of students' memorization. This study aims to discuss the implications of the Sima’an Ahad Pahing activity on students’ memorization at PPTQ Al-Hasan Ponorogo. This study departs from cognitive, affective, and psychomotoric problems with the reinforcement of the psychological theory of behaviorism developed by John Watson. This study uses a qualitative method with a psychological approach. Data sources were obtained through interviews with 1 kiai, 4 ustadz, and 5 students. The analysis used in this study is Huberman & Saldana, which includes three steps, namely data compaction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that implicitly the Sima’an at PPTQ Al-Hasan Ponorogo provided a new method for maintaining the credibility and authenticity of the students' memorization.

Abstract

This study examines the role of psychospiritual foundations in the economic transformation of the laying-hen business unit at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kayyis, Sajira, Lebak, Banten, as a representation of the integration between spirituality and economic rationality in pesantren-based empowerment. Prior to participating in the business incubation program, the enterprise faced structural and technical constraints such as limited capital, high feed prices, dependence on factory products, simple facilities, and a small production scale. Through the incubation program, Al-Kayyis successfully doubled its production capacity, developed locally sourced alternative feed (a mixture of rice bran, moringa leaves, petai cina, and itigovera), diversified its market toward local communities and students’ guardians, and implemented a sharia-based profit-sharing system that strengthened transparency and justice. Ecological innovation—such as using geese as natural guardians—reflected the synergy between simple technology and local wisdom. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a single-case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and field documentation. The findings reveal that the success of the economic transformation was driven not only by managerial and technical improvements but also by psychospiritual strength that infused every economic activity. The values of dzikr, patience, reliance on God (tawakal), gratitude, and ihsan functioned as psychological capital, nurturing work ethics, resilience, and spiritual awareness among students. The integration of spirituality, ethical production, and local innovation created a model of Sufistic economy—an economic system grounded in tasawuf that harmonizes productivity, sustainability, and blessing. The study contributes to the development of living Sufism and Islamic psychology by positioning spirituality as an alternative rationality in economic decision-making and a transformative source for pesantren-based economic empowerment.

Abstract

This study explores the relevance of classical Islamic jurisprudential diversity, particularly through the concept of ikhtilāf (juristic disagreement), in contributing to contemporary governance models in multicultural societies. The historical flexibility within Islamic legal thought has provided a robust foundation for ethical pluralism, which can support inclusive governance by recognizing and respecting diverse legal, cultural, and religious traditions. The concept of ikhtilāf encourages a pluralistic approach to law, allowing multiple interpretations of Islamic law to coexist, which is particularly beneficial in multicultural contexts where legal pluralism is often necessary. The study also highlights the challenges of integrating rigid interpretations of Islamic law with the dynamic needs of modern societies, particularly in areas such as human rights and gender equality. By examining real world case studies from Muslim majority and Muslim minority contexts, such as Malaysia and the UK, the study underscores the importance of adapting Islamic jurisprudence to contemporary governance while ensuring social cohesion and justice for all communities. The research further emphasizes the need for legal reforms that integrate the principles of ikhtilāf into both Muslim majority and multicultural societies, providing a more inclusive and just framework for governance. Finally, the study suggests that future research should focus on expanding the integration of ethical pluralism into contemporary political systems, considering both Islamic and secular legal frameworks for a cohesive governance model.
