The mental health of the congregation has become a significant issue as life’s pressures, such as loneliness and isolation, increasingly affect the life of the church community. A pastoral approach that is overly individualistic and pastor-centred tends to limit the community’s involvement in supporting congregants experiencing psychological or spiritual burdens. Yet, Paul’s theology presents the life of the church as the body of Christ, called to care for one another and bear one another’s burdens. This study aims to reconstruct Paul’s pastoral teaching on bearing one another’s burdens as a model of church solidarity that contributes to the mental health of the congregation. This study employs a qualitative method, utilising a literature review and theological analysis of Galatians 6:1–5. The findings indicate that Paul’s pastoral approach emphasises the shared responsibility of the entire Body of Christ in supporting the suffering of the congregation. This is because bearing one another’s burdens in Paul’s theology constitutes the biblical foundation for ecclesial solidarity, which positions communal life as an expression of love and the responsibility of faith. Mental health is understood not merely as an individual issue, but as a relational one that requires support, acceptance, empathy and the presence of the community in facing life’s crises. Therefore, a reconstruction of Paul’s pastoral care offers a model of ecclesial solidarity that affirms the church as a community that is present, supportive and mutually sustaining, in order to preserve the mental health and resilience of the congregation.
