Abstract

This research was motivated by the low of students learning outcomes in grade X at SMAN 1 Enam Lingkung that students think physics is difficult. Based on this problem, the aim of this research is to determine the effect of using contextual-based learning materials in the discovery learning model on the physics learning outcomes of student in grade X at SMAN 1 Enam Lingkung. This is experimental quantitative research with population of 180 students with 68 students was chosen as the sample 68 by using purposive random sampling technique. Analysis of the similarity of means was used to test the hypothesis because the data is normally distributed and has a homogeneous variance. The results of the cognitive domain analysis obtained that the average of the experimental class was 72.12 and the control class was 62.29. It can be concluded that the class that use contextual-based learning materials shows higher average learning outcomes compared to that of the class without contextual-based learning materials. Analysis of mean similarity test was obtained th = 2.05 while tt = 1.998 at the 0.05 level of significance and dk = 66. It can be seen that th is in the Ho rejection area, this means that Ho is rejected and H1 was accepted. Based on this result it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the use of contextual-based learning materials with discovery learning model on physics learning outcomes of student in grade X in SMAN 1 Enam Lingkung.

Abstract

Menulis laporan penelitian merupakan kemampuan yang harus dimiliki oleh lulusan perguruan tinggi. Salah satu laporan penelitian adalah artikel yang diterbitkan di jurnal. Setiap jurnal memiliki aturan khusus yang terkait dengan tata cara penulisan termasuk sitasi dan refererensi. Akan tetapi kesadaran terhadap penyesuaian cara penulisan sitasi dan referensi masih rendah yang berujung pada tidak teraturnya penulisan sitasi dan referensi. Selain itu, kesadaran yang rendah tersebut ditambah pula dengan ketidak-tahuan terhadap alat bantú dalam mengelola sitasi dan referensi pada saat menulis draft manuskrip. Oleh karena itu, departemen fisika melaksanakan pelatihan penggunaan software pengolah sitasi dan referensi bagi mahasiswa tahun ke-empat dimana objek pelatihan ini sedang melakukan penelitian dan akan menulis laporan penelitian. Jenis peneiltian ini adalah deskriptif expost facto untuk mengungkap fakta yang berhubungan dengan pengetahuan mahasiswa terhadap software pengolah sitasi dan referensi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan diberikan. Mahasiswa tingkat ke-empat yang menjadi responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 93 orang. Respon mahasiswa sebelum diberikan pelatihan menyatakan bahwa mahasiswa sudah memiliki pengalaman dalam menulis karya ilmiah dan membuat daftar referensi, akan tetapi masih sedikit yang mengetahui tentang software pengolah sitasi dan referensi. Setelah mengikuti pelatihan, mahasiswa merasakan manfaat dari kegiatan pelatihan dan memahami cara penggunaan software pengolah sitasi dan referensi.

Abstract

Mind map provide a creative display of topic network under discussion in learning process. Therefore, the integration of mind map in learning media is an alternative way to increase student’s interest. We designed mind map-based learning media to deliver optical instruments material and evaluate its properness in XI grade of SMA N 15 Padang. This is an R&D research using modified Brog and Gall development used a mixed method between qualitative and quantitative approach. Learning media was validated by material expert, media expert and a physics teacher. The validation results from three validators are obtained with an average of 88%, 93% and 88% which is categorized as very worthy and this media is feasible to be applied. Student responses on media assessment showed very agree with 46.63%, agreed with 41.6%, only 9.49% chose Less Agree and 2% chose Disagree. Students admitted that the mind map was interesting, easy to use, and helpful. Therefore, the mind map learning media in optical instrument is appropriate to apply in learning process.
