Abstract

The impact of ICT in counselling cannot be undermined, especially, in developed nations. However, there seems to be a low level of ICT adoption in counselling services delivery among professional counsellors in Nigeria particularly, in Kwara state. The study examines the perception and attitude of professional counsellors towards e-counselling services delivery in Kwara State, Nigeria and determines the influence of gender and length of practice on the respondents’ perception and attitude towards e-counselling. The survey research design was adopted in this study and the convenient sampling technique was used to select 400 respondents from an unknown population of professional counsellors in Kwara State. The self-structured “Perception and Attitude Towards E-counselling Questionnaire” was validated by experts. The findings revealed that professional counsellors in Kwara State perceived both the benefits and challenges embedded in e-counselling services delivery and exhibited positive attitudes towards them. Gender disparity was found in the respondents’ attitude towards e-counselling but not in their perception; while length of practice influenced both the respondents’ perception and attitude towards e-counselling. It was concluded that professional counsellors in Kwara State perceived both the benefits and challenges embedded in e-counselling services delivery and exhibited positive attitudes towards them. It was recommended among others that government and counselling stakeholders should design e-counselling templates to strengthen the ethical codes and conduct towards e-counselling service delivery.

Abstract

Language teachers need to see technology as an instrument that can make language teaching and learning better. However, the usefulness of application software in the actual teaching and learning process of learning a specific language, such as Arabic, remains unexplored. This study aims to analyze the awareness and perceived instructional usefulness of Arabic language application software among junior secondary school students. This study adopted a descriptive survey type, the population for this study included all junior secondary schools. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 240 junior secondary school students. The data gathered were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). T-test was used to test the difference between variables in hypothesis one and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test the difference among variables in null hypothesis two at 0.05 level of significance. The study found that there is a significant difference in the level of awareness of Arabic language application software among junior secondary school students on the basis of gender (F.cal. = 3.20 > tvalue= 1.96). The study discovered that there is a significant difference in the perceived instructional usefulness of Arabic language application software among junior secondary schools’ students on the basis of class level (F-cal 2.41 > Tvalue 1.96). It was concluded that there is a significant difference in the level of awareness of male and female students on the Arabic language application software for learning of Arabic language among junior secondary schools’ students.

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology is currently recognized as a viable and correct educational tool. The application of ICT makes the teaching and learning process simpler, closer, and easier to do anytime and anywhere. The availability and use of ICT tools in the teaching and learning arena is said to be one of the main determinants of the effectiveness of teaching and learning at all levels of education. Islamic Studies is one of the study programs offered in colleges of education in Nigeria that can be taught using ICT. Therefore, this study aims to examine the influence of ICT on the teaching of Islamic studies in universities of education. Three study objectives and research questions were formulated in this research. Descriptive survey research was adopted in this study. The population of this study were all Islamic Studies lecturers in all colleges of education in Kwara State and purposive sampling technique was used to sample respondents in this study. An adapted questionnaire entitled Uses of ICT in Teaching Islamic Studies was used.  The main results of the study show that ICT has a significant positive impact on the effectiveness of teaching and learning. This research reveals that the use of ICT, such as computers, the internet, and educational software, has increased student participation and their understanding of Islamic study material. The implication of this research is that these findings highlight the urgent need to strengthen ICT infrastructure and provide adequate access to digital resources to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Abstract

Despite the growing demand for digital competence in education, many biology teachers still face challenges in effectively integrating ICT into pedagogical practices. This study investigated biology teachers’ academic qualifications as a predictor of ICT skill levels in pedagogical approaches in north-central Nigeria. This research adopted a descriptive cross-sectional survey design to examine the influence of Biology teachers’ academic qualifications and ICT competencies on their instructional strategies within North-Central Nigeria. The study involved 696 Biology teachers from public secondary schools across six states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). A multi-stage sampling approach was employed, combining random and stratified techniques based on school type and teachers’ academic backgrounds. Data were gathered using a reliable and validated questionnaire that measured teachers’ ICT literacy, skill proficiency, and instructional practices. Responses were scored using a four-point Likert scale, and data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, and ANOVA at a 0.05 significance threshold. The analysis revealed that professionally qualified biology teachers demonstrated significantly higher ICT competence compared to their less qualified peers, as shown by ANOVA results F(2, 692) = 11.14, p = 0.00. Therefore, it can be concluded that higher academic qualifications contribute to stronger ICT proficiency and the adoption of more student-centered teaching approaches. The study recommends targeted ICT training, continuous professional development, and high academic standards to improve biology education quality and inclusivity.
