Abstract

Repeated processing of rice fields affects soil quality and degradation, which in turn impacts rice production. Therefore, a combination of NPK and humic acid is needed to prevent a decrease in NPK and to improve soil structure. this article studies about the effect of NPK fertilizer dosage and humic acid on the growth and yield of paddy rice. The experimental design used was a Split Plots Design with NPK as the main plot and Humic Acid as the subplot with each treatment having 4 dose levels and each repeated twice. Main plot of NPK dosage consists of 0 kg ha-1, 100 kg ha-1, 200 kg ha-1, and 300 kg ha-1. The subplots of humic acid doses consist of 0 g ha-1, 1500 g ha-1, 3000 g ha-1, and 4500 g ha-1. The results showed that there was an interaction between the dose of NPK fertilizer and humic acid on plant height, number of tillers, root drop ratio, number of productive tiller, number of grains per panicle, percentage of filled grain, weight of harvested dry grain per hill, weight of dry grain harvest per plot, weight of milled dry grain per hill and weight of milled dry grain per plot, except for the weight of 1000 grains. The dose of NPK fertilizer as much as 206.30 kg ha-1and the dose of humic acid as much as 2.928 kg ha-1 gave optimum results on the weight of dry milled grain which produced 6.15 kg per plot or equivalent to 10.250 tons ha-1.

Abstract

The study was conducted at the Agricultural, Fisheries, and Forestry Extension Agency (BP3K) in Cilamaya Wetan District, Karawang Regency, West Java, at an elevation of 8.9 m above sea level, from December 2022 to March 2023. Aims. The research focuses on exploring how the recommended percentage of NPK fertilizer interacts with biological fertilizer to affect the growth and yield of the lowland rice variety Inpari 32 and to determine the ideal biological fertilizer for each NPK dose level that maximizes grain weight per plot. Methods. The experimental design used was a factorial pattern, a Randomized Block Design with two factors and repeated three times. The first factor is the dose of NPK fertilizer (N), which includes three treatment levels, namely: n1 = 100% of the suggested dose (500 g plot-1); n2 = 50% of the suggested dose (250 g plot-1), and n3 = 25% of the suggested dose (125 g plot-1). The second factor is the biological fertilizer dose (H), which includes 3 treatment levels, namely: h1 = 0% of the recommended dose (0 g plot-1); h2 = 50% of the recommended dose (15 g plot-1), and h3 = 100% of the recommended dose (30 g plot-1). Result. The experimental results indicated an interaction between the recommended percentage of NPK fertilizer and biological fertilizer regarding plant height and number of tillers aged 28 Days After Planting (DAP), 42 DAP, and 56 DAP, along with the number of productive tillers, panicle length, grain weight per panicle, grain weight per clump, and grain weight per plot. The highest grain weight per plot of 24.32 kg was attained at the advised NPK fertilizer dosage of 100%, along with the ideal recommended biological fertilizer dose of 66,10% (r2 = 0.92). Conclusion. The suggested NPK fertilizer dosage of 50% yielded the highest grain weight per plot of 23.77 kg, using the ideal recommended biological fertilizer amount of 60.19% (r2 = 0.90). Implication. With a suggested application of NPK fertilizer of 25%, the highest grain mass per plot of 23.15 kg at an ideal biological fertilization rate of 55.10% (r2 = 0.94).

Abstract

Background. The dormancy of Arabica coffee seeds is one of the main obstacles in the provision of quality seeds because the hard seed skin causes the germination process to take place slowly and is not uniform. Purpose. This study aims to obtain the best combination of types and concentrations of strong acids and planting media in increasing the viability, vigor, and growth of Arabica coffee seeds of the Sigararutang variety. Method. The research was carried out at the Greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Winaya Mukti University, using a Split-Plot Design with three replications. The main plot consists of two planting media, namely a mixture of soil: husk charcoal (2:1) and soil: manure (2:1), while the subplot is a combination of three types of strong acids (H₂SO₄, HNO₃, and HCl) at concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The parameters observed included germination age, germination power, growth rate, percentage of Soldier phase, percentage of Kepel phase, and seedlings height aged 91 days after planting. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a real level of 5%. Results. The results showed that there was a real interaction between the combination of strong acids and planting media on germination age and germination power. Treatment of HNO₃ 5% and HCl 10% on soil media: husk charcoal produces the fastest germination rate, while HNO₃ 5%, H₂SO₄ 20%, and HCl 10% on the same media result in the highest germination rate of 100%. The 5% HNO₃ treatment provides the best growth speed and seedlings height up to 8.11 cm at the age of 91 days after planting. Conclusion. Soil media: husk charcoal consistently yields better results than soil media: manure on most growth parameters. Thus, scarification using HNO₃ 5% combined with soil media: husk charcoal is recommended as the most effective pre-planting treatment to accelerate germination, increase viability and vigor, and produce more optimal early growth of Arabica coffee seeds.
