Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the ability of eighth-grade students of the SPF Unit of SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan to review short stories using the circuit learning model. This study used a quantitative method with a Quasi-Experimental Design approach, and the sample consisted of 31 students in the experimental class and 31 students in the control class. The sampling method was simple random sampling. Data analysis involved the use of normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests. The results showed that the experimental class obtained an average score of 85.32, while the control class obtained an average score of 44.35. As indicated by the average scores, it can be concluded that the experimental class obtained higher scores than the control class. This indicates that the use of the circuit learning model is more effective in improving students' ability to review short stories. This improvement was also proven by hypothesis testing, namely that t count > t table, i.e. 10.301 > 2.00, thus it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates that the use of the circuit learning model has an effect on the ability to review fictional works of the short story type of eighth-grade students at the UPT SPF SMP Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan.
