Abstract

Research on the existence of career women in the Qur'an using Riffat Hasan's gender approach resulted the conclusion that the existence of career women is not determined by gender, but by their potential and quality for great achievements. Basically, the Qur’an does not regulate women's and men's work areas in a standard way. Islam leaves certain areas to be regulated by human reason based on demands that are always developing. There is no prohibition in the Qur'an for women to have a career, on the contrary, it opens up the widest possible opportunities for women and men to work together in realizing benefits in various aspects of life. The Qur'an does not differentiate between work or righteous deeds carried out by men and women. Both are equally appreciated. In fact, Allah SWT stated that whoever does good deeds, both men and women in a state of faith, will get a good and quality life. This research is included in qualitative research and library research. The analytical method used in this research is the thematic method (maudhu'i) and Riffat Hasan's gender approach

Abstract

This study discusses the influence of rationalism as a branch of philosophy on the methods and approaches to al-Manar's interpretation. Rationalism, which places reason as the main tool in understanding reality, is an important element in building a rational and contextual approach to interpretation. In their interpretation of al-Manar, Muhammad Abduh and Rasyid Ridha try to harmonize revelation and reason to answer the challenges of modernism, such as social reform, education and the revival of Muslims. This research shows that the influence of rationalism is reflected in the efforts of al-Manar's interpretation to provide explanations that are logical, applicable and relevant to the socio-political conditions of his time. This approach not only emphasizes textual aspects, but also considers moral and social aspects, making this tafsir one of the progressive works in Islamic studies. In conclusion, rationalism enriches interpretive methodology by opening space for dialogue between revelation and contemporary reality, resulting in a more relevant and inclusive understanding. These findings emphasize the role of philosophy, especially rationalism, in supporting the development of Islamic studies that are adaptive to changing times

Abstract

The study of maqasid syari’ah and maqasid Al-Qur’an is a crucial discourse in contemporary Islamic legal studies. Although both are rooted in divine revelation, there are fundamental differences in their paradigms, scopes, and approaches. Maqasid syari’ah focuses on the preservation of five essential human needs (dharuriyyat): religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property, with an orientation towards regulating social life. On the other hand, maqasid Al-Qur’an encompasses a broader scope, reflecting the universal objectives of the Qur'an, such as justice, compassion, and cosmological balance. This study aims to explore the distinctions between these two paradigms. A qualitative approach is employed through a literature review of classical and modern works discussing these concepts. The findings indicate that maqasid Al-Qur’an offers a more holistic framework for understanding the Qur'an's message across various dimensions of life, while maqasid syari’ah tends to provide practical guidance within legal and social contexts. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of Islamic studies by offering an integrative and relevant perspective to address modern global challenges. The findings are expected to serve as a foundation for formulating Islamic-based solutions oriented toward universal values and the overall welfare of humanity.
