Abstract

The development of the National Family Planning Movement is aimed at improving the quality of human resources. The family, as the smallest group of human resources, has both emotional and physical bonds. Injectable contraception in Indonesia is one of the most popular contraceptive methods. Users of the DMPA (Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) contraceptive, also known as the 3-month injectable contraceptive, on average experience a weight gain of 11 pounds or 5.5 kilograms and an increase in body fat by 3.4% over two to three years of use. Meanwhile, with monthly injectable contraception, the side effects on weight gain are very mild, resulting in only a slight increase in body weight002. Research objective to determine whether there is a relationship between the use of hormonal contraceptive methods, especially the DMPA injectable, and weight gain. The research method used is a quantitative correlation analysis with an observational study and a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of mothers using the DMPA injectable, with 47 respondents. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with a purposive method. The test used is the chi-square test. Research Results, there is a relationship between the use of DMPA injectable contraception and weight gain (Chi-square: 7.362 and p-value: 0.025).

Abstract

Postpartum visit documentation is a vital component of midwifery care, serving not only as a clinical record but also as an indicator of service quality. The use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in primary healthcare settings is expected to improve the accuracy and completeness of postpartum care documentation. This study aimed to analyze the completeness of postpartum visit documentation based on EMR data at Nalumsari I Public Health Center, Jepara Regency. A descriptive quantitative design with a retrospective approach was used to assess 120 postpartum medical records from 2023. The findings showed that the most consistently documented components were blood pressure (98.3%) and uterine involution (95.8%), while psychological status and health education were less frequently recorded (65% and 58.3%, respectively). The Chi-Square test revealed a significant relationship between the number of postpartum visits and the completeness of documentation (p = 0.001). These results indicate that more frequent visits are associated with more complete and higher-quality documentation. This study implies the need to strengthen health workers' capacity in EMR-based documentation, especially in recording non-clinical aspects such as emotional support and postpartum health education.

Abstract

The puerperium is a critical phase for postpartum mothers that requires special attention to prevent complications. However, awareness of the importance of self-care during this period remains limited, particularly in rural areas such as the working area of Puskesmas Kembang in Jepara. This community service initiative aimed to empower postpartum mothers by enhancing their knowledge and skills in self-care and physical recovery. The approach included interactive education using video media, health talks, group discussions, hands-on demonstrations, and the involvement of family members as key supporters. A total of 20 postpartum mothers and 10 family companions participated in the program. Evaluation through pre- and post-tests revealed significant improvements in knowledge across various aspects of postpartum care, including perineal hygiene, balanced nutrition, early detection of danger signs, and the role of family support. This program proved effective and has the potential to be replicated in other rural settings with similar conditions.

Abstract

Accurate and precise diagnosis coding in obstetric cases at Dr. Asmir DKT Hospital, Salatiga, is crucial for effective medical record management. This study utilized an analytical quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method to explore the relationship between the accuracy and precision of diagnosis coding. The sample comprised 100 obstetric cases selected from inpatients during the first quarter (January – March 2024). Data analysis revealed that 68% of the 72 analyzed cases had accurate diagnosis coding, while 32% were inaccurate. Similarly, 71% of the cases were coded precisely, with 29% coded imprecisely. Chi-Square analysis indicated a significant relationship between accuracy and precision of diagnosis coding (p = 0.002). Factors influencing inaccuracies and imprecisions in coding included legibility of physician notes in medical records, inadequate understanding of the coding system (ICD-10), and completeness of medical documentation. To enhance coding quality, regular training for healthcare staff is recommended, alongside strengthening internal audit systems and developing more efficient medical record information systems.
