Abstract

This paper delves into the impact of liberalism on Indonesia and national identity through a literature review and qualitative research. The author identifies the complexities of liberalism in Indonesia and its effects on the diverse societal structure. The literature review focuses on understanding national identity, exploring key aspects, and analyzing relevant literature in the context of a diverse society. Qualitative methods are used to evaluate social reality, integrating insights from the literature review into Indonesia's specific context. The primary analysis centers on the intricate relationship between liberal ideologies and national identity, navigating the dynamics of social and political spheres. Introducing Pulchrum, a mediating concept based on Thomas Aquinas's philosophy, the paper depicts a harmonious balance between liberalism and national identity. The philosophical analysis suggests that harmony between freedom and traditional values can create beauty in Indonesian society. The research yields profound insights into the complex relationship between liberalism and national identity in Indonesia, emphasizing the potential for achieving harmonious solutions. The implications of this study provide a basis for holistic thinking, balancing freedom with local and national values to foster a strong, united, and diverse society.

Abstract

This research focuses on the (social) cultural phenomenon of Leles Orang Manggarai in the context of social change driven by the influence of modern technology. Current conditions indicate a decline in unity and cooperation within this culture. The study employs a qualitative approach with literature review, interviews, and Heideggerian philosophical analysis to elucidate the changes in this cooperative culture. Literature review and interviews reveal the dynamics of Leles culture that has undergone transformation due to interactions with modern technology, resulting in a decline in the previously strong values of unity and cooperation in Manggarai society. In the philosophical context of Heidegger, the research examines the metaphysical implications for the changed Leles culture. The qualitative findings provide insights into how modern technology has influenced culture and social values, and how Heideggerian thought can be applied to contemplate societal changes. This research contributes significantly to understanding the impact of technology on culture and cooperation in Manggarai society. It is essential to underline that this study does not aim to examine the entire Manggarai society or address social phenomena universally, like sociological theories. Instead, it emphasizes the social benefits of Leles culture, presenting social phenomena as a reflective framework in this context.

Abstract

Inspiring means providing encouragement or motivation for someone to think, create, or take action. This word is often used to describe a positive influence that drives creativity, ideas, or motivation in actions. For example, a work of art or noble deed can "inspire" others to create or act similarly. The focus of this article is to critically assess the theological meaning of pastoral ministry in the digital age. The article aims to provide a theological introduction to pastoral practices based on reformers’ views. Charles Borromeo, a figure influential in pastoral reform in the Church, is the role model or inspiration for this study. Using the historical theological reflection method, the contributions of pastoral practices from the Reformation era are compared with those of the digital age. The research method is qualitative, descriptive, and historical, and it involves literature review on relevant topics. This study is motivated by a decline in contextual pastoral spirit, aiming to discover new methods or innovations in pastoral reform.

Abstract

This study focuses on the involvement of the Church in interpreting pluralism in Indonesia. This article describes the efforts of the Catholic Church in addressing diversity in Indonesia through two different but complementary research approaches: quantitative method using questionnaires and qualitative method involving literature review. The quantitative approach involves data collection through questionnaires distributed to various members of the Catholic Church. The numerical data generated from the questionnaires are then statistically analyzed to identify patterns, preferences, and common views related to the synodality and diakonia of the Church. Meanwhile, the qualitative approach involves in-depth analysis through literature study, encompassing an understanding of the concepts of synodality and diakonia of the Church, as well as a review of literature relevant to the Indonesian context. This article aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the role of the Catholic Church in addressing differences and promoting unity in the multicultural context of Indonesia. Thus, this article is expected to make a valuable contribution to the understanding and discussion of the challenges and potential of the synodality and diakonia of the Church in unifying diversity in Indonesia.
