Abstract

Tire pressure requirements may vary for different vehicles depending on factors such as the brand, load, and tire type. Inadequate tire pressure can result in suboptimal braking performance. This study aims to examine the impact of tire pressure variations on the efficiency of the main brake and parking brake in vehicles. The brake tester was utilized to conduct experiments on pickup goods vehicles with a GVWR less than 3,500 kg. The findings reveal that tire pressure has a significant influence on the efficiency of the main brake and parking brake. Higher tire pressure corresponds to lower efficiency values for both brakes, while lower tire pressure yields higher efficiency values. It is crucial to raise awareness among vehicle owners about the importance of maintaining proper tire pressure as it directly impacts braking performance and overall vehicle safety.

Abstract

This study aims to create an internet of things-based vehicle dimension measurement tool as a solution to the less effective and efficient process of measuring vehicle dimensions. This tool is systems composed of a vehicle dimension measuring tool with the main components of the TF Mini Lidar-S sensor and the Node MCU ESP8266, then the Dimensional Measurement Application (A-KURDI) as an intermediary for sending measurement results to firebase storage, and firebase database as storage media. The tools systematics starts from the measurement process with a measuring tool, then the results will be directly filled in the application and then sent to the firebase. The measurement results of this tool are compared with the manual measurements results. Although it has less accuracy, this tool has better time efficiency and better usage of measurements media compared to manual measurement than measurement results belong to the limits of dimensions measurement. ABSTRAK Penelitian ditujukan untuk membuat alat ukur dimensi kendaraan bermotor berbasis internet of things sebagai solusi dari kurang efektif dan efisiennya proses pengukuran dimensi kendaraan bermotor. Alat ini merupakan rangkaian sistem yang tersusun dari alat ukur dimensi dengan komponen utama sensor TF Mini Lidar-S dan Node MCU ESP8266, kemudian Aplikasi Ukur Dimensi (A-KURDI) sebagai perantara pengiriman hasil pengukuran dimensi menuju penyimpanan pada firebase, dan basis data firebase sebagai media penyimpanan hasil ukur. Sistematika kerjanya dimulai dari proses pengukuran dengan alat ukur yang kemudian hasilnya akan langsung terisi pada aplikasi kemudian akan dikirim ke basis data firebase. Hasil pengukuran alat ini dibandingkan dengan hasil pengukuran manual. Walaupun memiliki keakuratan yang kurang, tetapi alat ini memiliki efisiensi waktu dan penggunaan media dalam proses pengukuran yang lebih baik dibandingkan pengukuran secara manual serta hasil pengukuran masih masuk ke dalam batas toleransi ukur dimensi.
