Abstract

In this study, the authors focus on the feeling of alienation experienced by covid-19 patients. Feeling alienated is something that pops up when they do the part. The methodology in this study takes a qualitative approach. The author tries to see the sense of alienation from a philosophical point of view; and how they deal with that sense of alienation. The author conducted in-depth interviews with several covid-19 survivors, complemented them with literature studies, and tried this phenomenon through the philosophy of relationality of Armada Riyanto, with a phenomenological approach. This study reveals the feeling of alienation experienced by covid-19 patients. This sense of alienation arises due to three factors, namely loneliness and loneliness, negative stigma on covid-19 patients, and their inability to express themselves. This study confirms that the relationship is a necessity. The nature of human existence is to be present together with others. In the context of this separation, relational (which is often considered to be lacking in quality) turns out to be a means of missing presence.

Abstract

Some individuals opt for unquestioning their faith, while others lean more toward reason and distance themselves from faith. The former extreme can lead to anarchic and uncontrolled religious militancy within society, whereas the latter extreme can result in the waning of faith. This study aims to address the placement of the dialogue between faith and reason. The qualitative method, utilizing in-depth literature, is employed for this investigation. The Encyclical Letter Fides et Ratio and the writings of Thomas Aquinas were selected as key sources to delve into this topic. The results of this study indicate that discourses about the interaction between faith and reason do not always coexist, there are times when reason is sidelined and there are times when reason is upheld as the main truth. Being a good Christian requires constant effort to have a dialogue between faith and reason. Through this process, faith is enriched by reason, while reason is enlightened by the illuminating light of faith.

Abstract

The natural damage and global warming witnessed in the past two decades were forecasted over 50 years ago by the scholar Lynn White, who asserted that these environmental challenges stem from a misinterpretation of human dignity in the Holy Scripture. This paper commences with an exploration of White’s allegations, subsequently endeavoring to discern the authentic essence of human dignity from Psalm 8 and its positioning within the context of creation. The findings of this study underscore that a misapprehension of human dignity’s essence can indeed lead to errors in the stewardship of nature. Conversely, when human dignity is accurately understood, the positive outcome entails the vigilant and responsible care of the natural environment.

Abstract

Disabilities are a term used to replace the term 'disabled'. One of the figures who pays great attention to people with disabilities is Pope Francis. However, the term disability is not yet popular in Indonesia. They are still often discarded and classifiedas weak and marginalized. The purpose of this study is to see Pope Francis' concern for people with disabilities to be a pastoral basis. The research method used is a literature review. The results of the study show that Pope Francis pays special attention to people with disabilities. The pope noted the injustices and rejection that they experienced. The Pope also pays attention to the dignity of disability. The papal documents mention people with disabilities directly. The conclusion of the study is that Pope Francis' concern for people with disabilities can be a pastoral guidance for the Catholic Church in Indonesia
