Abstract

The problem in this study was the low mathematics learning outcomes of students. This study aimed to determine the improvement in mathematics learning outcomes of students after the implementation of the ARIAS learning model in mathematics subjects for junior high school students (SMP) in Jelimpo, Landak Regency. This study was classroom action research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. This study involved 33 students of grade VII. Data were collected from test and observation. Test techniques were used to measure student learning outcomes. Observation data were used to identify the implementation of the ARIAS model in mathematics learning. The student learning outcome data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicate that the application of the ARIAS learning model can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. This can be seen in the improvement of the learning outcomes in cycle I of student completeness by 45.45%, and completeness in cycle II of 78.78%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the use of the ARIAS learning model had a positive effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes of the students.

Abstract

Mathematics is still a problem for students and teachers today, because it is abstract, difficult to understand and requires accuracy in its implementation. Mathematics is also an object or lesson that is considered difficult to learn according to society. Apart from that, there are those who show the perspective that mathematics is not related to what they experience in their lives. This is because the abstract nature of mathematics and the way teachers present the material, which only provides definitions, formulas, example questions and practice questions that are not contextual, has become a long tradition and is still being applied. The current problem is that it only focuses on books and teachers so that it does not provide a meaningful understanding effect for students. Reforming mathematics learning, which was initially only an abstract concept and only a shadow, can certainly be integrated into their daily lives. The form of integrating mathematics learning can use a local culture-based approach that is close to students. One of them is using a hat object. Physically, hats are known to have a structure similar to a cone. Because the visual is similar to a cone, the researchers looked at it from the perspective of the work through one application, namely Geogebra. Learning with the Geogebra application can be used as an alternative for teaching mathematical objects that are abstract and difficult to teach. Therefore, Geogebra can help in visualizing curved sided shapes, one of which is a cone shape. The aim of this research is to explore the mathematics involved in caping using geogebra media. After conducting exploration, the researcher studied mathematical concepts obtained from mathematics learning materials, especially the shape of caps. Researchers use qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach because they are considered very relevant to cultural studies studies. The research results show that hats contain mathematical elements, especially geometric concepts, which can be integrated through Geogebra learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) based on school assets in social arithmetic learning, and its impact on student engagement and understanding. This learning project involves the use of school gardens. where students are given the task of processing garden produce into products that can be sold, then analyzing the calculation of profit and loss. This study also involves cross-subject collaboration, especially with the subjects of Indonesian Language and Social Sciences (IPS). The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of PjBL based on school assets can increase students' motivation, engagement, and understanding of social arithmetic concepts. Cross-subject collaboration plays an important role in developing students' literacy and social entrepreneurship skills. This study also identified several challenges, such as time constraints in project management and students' difficulties in understanding the concept of calculating profit and profit margins. The implementation of PjBL contributes positively to developing 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. This study concludes that the PjBL approach based on school assets and cross-subject integration is effective in improving the quality of social arithmetic learning, as well as providing contextual and meaningful learning experiences for students.
