Abstract

This activity is community service through the Student Work Lecture (KKM) program carried out by Group 18 UNTIRTA by making it one of the work programs which is motivated by the relationship between the economic potential of the community, especially in the fisheries sector and the problem of organic waste in Banjarsari Village. To overcome this, by holding outreach and training on maggot cultivation, it is hoped that it can become an innovation and solution to the problem of organic waste and as an alternative to fish food needs in Banjarsari Village. The aim of this activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness of the environment through outreach and training on maggot cultivation as an effort to overcome the waste problem and as an alternative animal feed in utilizing economic potential. In its implementation, the activity method is carried out through socialization and training on maggot cultivation by presenting material and demonstrating how the stages of maggot cultivation are implemented. The result of this activity was that the training participants were enthusiastic about participating in the activities carried out and most of them were able to understand how to implement maggot cultivation. This activity supports the Government's efforts to overcome the existing waste problem. With training on how to cultivate Maggot, it is hoped that it can improve skills, open up employment opportunities, knowledge and care for the environment. So, the people of Banjarsari are interested in entrepreneurship in providing animal feed through Maggot cultivation and can overcome the existing waste problem.

Abstract

ABSTRACTFood waste is growing more prevalent in the globe these days. The global food supply chain and environmental sustainability may encounter issues as food waste increases. According to Economist Intelligence Unit data, Indonesia ranks second in the world behind Saudi Arabia, with an estimated 300 kg of food waste per person each year. The environmental impact is a concern in food supply. Author examines how management of food waste at Untirta Pakupatan Canteen reviewed from Serang City Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2021, using a legal research method that draws empirical facts from human behavior, obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation. Food waste is food that is wasted due to negligence in the production, processing, distribution processes, or food that is rejected because it is unfit for consumption. According to the research, the phrase food waste is not well understood by general people since they have not received instruction on how to manage trash in an ecologically friendly manner. The manager of the canteen has not provided waste sorting facilities, reduce waste, and handles waste by limiting waste generation, recycling waste, and/or reusing waste in accordance with Regional Regulation of Serang City Number 7 of 2021 and others.Keywords: Food waste; Sustuinable Develpoment Goals; Canteen. ABSTRAKFood waste menjadi semakin penting di dunia akhir-akhir ini. Sistem pasokan makanan global dan kelestarian lingkungan mungkin akan menghadapi tantangan karena meningkatnya food waste. Menurut data studi dari Economist Intelligence Unit, dengan perkiraan 300 kilogram sampah makanan yang dihasilkan setiap tahunnya per orang, Indonesia menempati peringkat kedua di dunia setelah Arab Saudi. Dampak lingkungan dari meningkatnya food waste yakni masalah rantai pasokan makanan. Peneliti meneliti bagaimana pengelolaan sampah makanan yang tidak dikonsumsi di Kantin Depan Untirta Pakupatan ditinjau dari Peraturan Daerah Kota Serang Nomor 7 Tahun 2021 Tentang Pengelolaan Sampah menggunakan metode penelitian hukum yang menarik fakta empiris dari perilaku manusia, yang diperoleh dari kuesioner, wawancara serta observasi langsung. Food waste ialah bahan makanan yang hilang akibat kecerobohan dalam proses produksi, pengolahan, dan distribusi, atau sisa makanan yang dibuang karena tidak dapat dikonsumsi. Berdasarkan penelitian, istilah food waste belum terlalu diketahui masyarakat karena belum mendapatkan edukasi terkait pelayanan dalam pengelolaan sampah secara baik dan berwawasan lingkungan. Pengelola kawasan kantin depan Untirta Pakupatan belum menyediakan fasilitas pemilahan sampah, tidak melakukan pengurangan sampah, dan penanganan sampah melalui pembatasan timbulan sampah, pendauran ulang sampah, dan/atau pemanfaatan kembali sampah sebagaimana Peraturan Daerah Kota Serang Nomor 7 Tahun 2021 Tentang Pengelolaan Sampah dan peraturan lainnya.  Kata Kunci : Sampah Makanan; Pembangunan Berkelanjutan; Kantin.
