Abstract

Pakis Village is one of the areas in Jember Regency that has quite extensive plantation land and there are still many agricultural activities carried out by the community in their daily lives. The existence of ties between durian farmers, tourism managers, and pioneers of durian tourism villages will certainly lead to gradual interaction called embeddedness. Oversocialized arises due to a shared awareness in which durian farmers and managers both want to benefit from what they are trying to do as a form of meeting individual economic needs, while undersocialized arises due to the lack of interaction carried out by durian farmers and managers with pioneers during commodity buying and selling activities. The results of this study indicate the existence of oversocialized and undersocialized in Durian Tourism Pakis Village, Panti District, Jember Regency.

Abstract

Sekaten is an annual event held by Surakarta Palace in Solo area to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW. When the condition of the society was still traditional, Sekaten tradition was used as a medium of proselytization for scholars and sultans to spread and teach Islamic values. Over time, entering the modern era has caused a cultural shift in which the Sekaten tradition is used as a tourism icon. The acceptance of Sekaten culture by the community includes the externalization stage where each individual will try and learn and interpret what is outside himself. Then it continues to the objectivation stage with the existence of social reality created by humans, of course, it will be seen as something that has meaning and it will affect certain communities. And in the end, the community enters the internalization stage where the individuals involved will absorb the values, norms, and roles that exist in it, so that the social structure forms subjective awareness.

Abstract

This study discusses Aksi Kamisan as a contemporary social movement initiated by youth, particularly in the Jember region, aimed at rejecting the Military Bill (RUU TNI) and advocating for the enforcement of human rights (HAM). Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, this research analyzes Aksi Kamisan through Charles Tilly’s theory of social movements, which includes the elements of campaigns, repertoires of contention, and WUNC display (worthiness, unity, numbers, commitment). The findings indicate that Aksi Kamisan in Jember represents a collective, symbolic, and peaceful struggle, with active participation from university students across campuses as the primary actors. This action not only voices opposition to repressive state policies but also fosters solidarity among citizens in defending democracy and human rights. The movement’s sustainability, participants’ moral strength, and strategic communication and consolidation are key to reinforcing its resilience and influence on both the public and government.

The results of this study explain that there are factors driving individuals to choose to work as angklung buskers rather than choosing other jobs. The things that underlie individuals working as angklung buskers are supported by the low economic background of the individual and the individual's hobby of angklung music. The activities of this Jember angklung busker begin in the morning until the evening with an income of around Rp. 50,000 / day.
