Abstract

The Pregnant Women class program is one of the government programs to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, postpartum, newborns, and toddler development so that mothers are expected to be able to identify health problems experienced, but maternal participation in the class of pregnant women is low. The husband's social support is a strengthening factor for mothers to be able to participate in classes for pregnant women. This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between a husband's social support and participation in classes for pregnant women. This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique is non-probability sampling by consecutive sampling of 78 people. This research was conducted from April 1 to May 1, 2019, at the Denpasar City Health Center. The results showed that most of the husband's social support was weak (56%) and mothers did not participate in classes for pregnant women (56%). Statistical tests with the correlation of contingency coefficients obtained ρ = 0.000 value and r value = 0.707, meaning that there is a strong relationship between the husband's social support and participation in pregnant women's classes. The implication of this study is to increase knowledge related to husbands' social support factors that play a role in women's participation in pregnant women's classes.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS infection remains a crucial global public health issue, with a significant increase in cases every year in Indoneia, and adolescents occupy vulnerable positions. Limited knowledge related and the burden of social stigma hinders the effectiveness of intervention programs. This study aims to find out in depth the level of knowledge of junior high school adolescents about HIV/AIDS. This descriptive quantitative research uses a cross-sectional design with purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 52 grade IX students of SMP 1 Sawan. The results showed that the majority of respondents were 15 years old (55.8%) and female (67.3%). The level of adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS is mostly in the moderate category (65.4%), with the lowest score being 60, the highest score being 83.3, the mean being 68.3, and the median being 70. This indicates that there is still a need to provide information related to HIV/AIDS. The topic of HIV transmission has the highest proportion of wrong answers, followed by the signs and symptoms of HIV/AIDS. It is recommended that schools, parents, and the government work together in efforts to improve comprehensive and sustainable education, including strengthening Pelayanan Kesehatan Peduli Remaja (PKPR).

Abstract

The main characteristics of preeclampsia are endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory response of the immune system. Oxidative stress contributes to the pathogenesis of preeclampsia by increasing tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?) due to increased reactive oxygen species (ROS). Isoflavones are known to be able to prevent endothelial dysfunction due to increased ROS and proinflammatory cytokines. This study aims to determine the effect of soybean extract on TNF-? associated with preeclampsia using the endothelial cell culture method. The study using in vitro design with human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) cultures sample induced by normotensive plasma and preeclampsia plasma and then given various doses of soybean ethanol extract. The TNF-? level of each observation group was determined by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) procedure. Statistical analysis were performed with One-Way ANOVA test using SPSS Version 25. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) in TNF-? levels of HUVECs cultures exposed to preeclampsia plasma. Compared to the group exposed only to preeclampsia plasma (223.975±5.222ng/mL), the model given a dose of 35 ppm soybean ethanol extract showed a significant decrease in TNF-? levels (178.350±10.093ng/mL), similar to the control group exposed to normal plasma (185.993±16.393ng/mL). This study results indicate that the bioactive compounds in soybean ethanol extract assumed can reduce TNF-? levels in HUVECs cultures induced by preeclampsia plasma and have a potential future therapy for preeclampsia.
