Abstract

Pepper is a spice commodity that has the potential to be developed due to its superior quality. This study aims to analyze the competitiveness of pepper to identify promising export markets and potential development in destination countries. The data used is secondary data which is a combination of time series data and cross section data. The range of years used starts from 2017 to 2022 sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Trade Map, and Uncomtrade. Data analysis is used with the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Product Dynamics (EPD), and Export Competitiveness Index (ECI) methods. The results of the analysis show that Indonesian pepper exports to destination countries such as Vietnam, USA, and India have a competitive advantage and comparative advantage in the destination country because the RCA value is more than 1. The competitiveness of Indonesian pepper exports to destination countries varies, the average ECI value shows that Indonesia has good competitiveness in pepper exports to India, but tends to be weaker than Vietnam and the United States. ECI values > 1 indicate that Indonesia has a competitive advantage in the pepper export market to India, while ECI values < 1 for Vietnam and USA indicate that Indonesia has lower competitiveness in these export markets.

Abstract

Kerang darah (Anadara granosa) merupakan salah satu sumberdaya perikanan yang bernilai ekonomis dan memiliki kandungan protein tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) untuk menentukan faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi usahatani kerang darah di Labuhan Deli Kecamatan Medan Marelan, (2) untuk menentukan tingkat efisiensi teknis usahatani kerang darah di Labuhan Deli Kecamatan Medan Marelan, (3) untuk menentukan faktor sosial ekonomi yang mempengaruhi inefisiensi teknis usahatani kerang darah di Labuhan Deli Kecamatan Medan Marelan. Jumlah responden sebanyak 41 pembudidaya kerang darah mengunakan metode sensus. Analisis faktor produksi menggunakan fungsi produksi Cobb-Douglass dan analisis efisiensi menggunakan fungsi produksi Stochastic Frontier. Hasil analisis menunjukkan faktor produksi luas tambak dan bibit kerang darah signifikan mempengaruhi usahatani budidaya kerang darah. Tingkat efisiensi teknis signifikan berpengaruhi nyata terhadap usahatani budidaya kerang darah yaitu luas lahan, bibit kerang darah dan tenaga kerja. Pembudidaya memiliki peluang 31 persen untuk meningkatkan produksinya, jika penambahan lahan dan bibit kerang darah yang berkualitas. Faktor inefesiensi teknis disebabkan umur petani. Semakin tua umur petani semakin meningkatkan inefisiensi teknis. Pembudidaya kerang darah dengan lama pendidikan, lama berbudidaya, jumlah anggota keluarga, sebagai anggota kelompok perikanan dan memiliki modal sendiri, dapat menurunkan inefisiensi teknis usahatani budidaya kerang darah tetapi tidak signifikan dan inelastis.

Abstract

Deli Serdang Regency is one of the key beef cattle production centers in North Sumatra, playing a crucial role in efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in meat production at both the provincial and national levels. However, in recent years, the population and production of beef cattle in this region have fluctuated, while the demand for beef remains unmet. Therefore, this study aims to identify the factors influencing the performance of inseminators in improving beef cattle production in Deli Serdang Regency. This research employs a non-random sampling method using judgment sampling techniques. The sample consists of all inseminators from the Department of Agriculture and Livestock of Deli Serdang, totaling 42 respondents. The collected data were analyzed using the SEM method with the assistance of SmartPLS4 software. The results indicate that variables such as rewards, leadership, communication, and knowledge have a positive but statistically insignificant impact on inseminator performance (P Value > 0.05). Meanwhile, skills have a positive and significant influence on inseminator performance (P Value < 0.05). Indirect testing reveals that rewards, leadership, and communication influence motivation but are not significant. Similarly, knowledge affects ability but is also not significant. However, skills have a significant impact on inseminator performance. Between 2018 and 2022, the beef cattle population in Deli Serdang Regency increased by 1.44%, reaching 102,985 heads. Conversely, beef production declined by -1.27%, with a total production of 2,040,172 tons.
