Abstract

This study aims to describe the collaboration between the Bandung City Archives and Library Office and the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) in an effort to increase public interest in reading through book exhibitions. The method used is descriptive qualitative research method. The focus of the research is to examine how this collaboration contributes to increasing public interest in reading, especially in the context of book exhibitions. The results of this study reveal the implementation process of cooperation between the Bandung City Archives and Library Office and the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) in organizing book exhibitions. In addition, the research also identifies the challenges faced in implementing this collaboration. The results show that this collaboration has succeeded in creating a positive atmosphere that increases people's interest in reading. Despite the success, there are some obstacles such as limited resources and the changing preferences of an increasingly digital society. This research provides an in-depth understanding of the effectiveness of the collaboration between the Bandung City Archives and Library Office and the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) in increasing public interest in reading through book exhibitions. It also highlights the need to continue developing literacy programs that are in line with the development of society and technology.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kerjasama antara Dinas Arsip dan Perpustakaan Kota Bandung dengan Ikatan Penerbit Indonesia (IKAPI) dalam upaya meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat melalui pameran buku. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Fokus penelitian adalah mengkaji bagaimana kerjasama ini berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat, khususnya dalam konteks pameran buku. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan proses pelaksanaan kerjasama antara Dinas Arsip dan Perpustakaan Kota Bandung dengan Ikatan Penerbit Indonesia (IKAPI) dalam mengadakan pameran buku. Penelitian juga mengidentifikasi tantangan yang dihadapi dalam mengimplementasikan kerjsama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerjasama ini telah berhasil menciptakan atmosfer positif yang meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat. Meskipun berhasil, terdapat beberapa kendala seperti keterbatasan sumber daya dan perubahan preferensi masyarakat yang semakin digital. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang efektivitas kerjasama antara Dinas Arsip dan Perpustakaan Kota Bandung dengan Ikatan Penerbit Indonesia (IKAPI) dalam meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat melalui pameran buku. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti kebutuhan untuk terus mengembangkan program-program literasi yang sesuai dengan perkembangan masyarakat dan teknologi.

Abstract

Reading activities cannot be separated and are very essential with students because reading is the most important activity in students’ lives and activities. Unfortunately, currently, student’s reading interest looks very minimal. The student’s low interest for reading can be seen from the number of visits in each campus library. However, one of the factors causing the low interest in reading is advances in information technology. With advances in information technology, students prefer to find information quickly rather than precise information. In general, this study aims to see and describe the influence of digital libraries on reading interest of students in the library and informa- tion science study program at Padjadjaran University. From this research, it is known that the factors causing the declining quality of reading interest are physiological, intellectual, environmental and psychological factors. With the existence of a digital library, it is expected to increase students’ reading interest. This research uses a litera- ture study method from related references and data collection is carried out using a qualitative approach. The level of interest in reading a nation greatly determines the quality of human resources, while the quality of human resources greatly determines the development of a nation.
