Abstract

Thermodynamics belongs to the group of physics that contains material about calories and their transfer. The concepts of thermodynamics, thermal accumulation, and heat transfer are not only found in everyday life, but the principles of thermodynamics are also used in the use of industrial tools and technologies. The purpose of this research is to find out the tools, fields, and any activity that uses the principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fertilization in its application. This study uses a method of literature review by analyzing 30 relevant articles and focusing on the application of the principles of thermodynamics, thermal absorption, and heat transfer in life. The results of the study found that thermodynamics, thermal accumulation, and heat transfer play an important role in a variety of activities such as the manufacture of debris, wheat, plywood, and brick, as well as in the use of electronic devices such as refrigerators, hair dryers, and hand dryers. In addition, the principle of thermodynamics is applied in industrial technologies such as mini generators, steam power plants, and the ceramic industry. The results of this study show that the laws of thermodynamics are widely applied in various aspects of life, both on a domestic and industrial scale.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru sudah student centere namun belum efektif karena siswa masih cenderung pasif, kesulitan memahami materi yang berkaitan dengan rumus dan hitungan, serta guru belum optimal memanfaatkan teknologi. Maka diperlukan inovasi pembelajaran memanfaatkan teknologi, yaitu penerapan model PBL berbantuan PhET Simulations. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh model PBL Berbantuan PhET Simulations terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Experimental dan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, kelas VIII.B kelas kontrol dengan model PBL, dan VIII.C kelas eksperimen dengan PBL berbantuan PhET Simulations. Instrumen meliputi tes uraian pretest-posttest, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan, dan angket respon siswa. Analisis data menggunakan uji prasyarat yaitu normalitas dan homogenitas, uji parametrik menggunakan uji t dengan bantuan Microsoft Excel. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan model PBL berbantuan PhET Simulations diperoleh 97.5% dengan keterlaksanaan sangat baik dan angket respon siswa diperoleh 87.15 % dengan kategori sangat baik. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan thitung ttabel diperoleh 4.12 2.00, sehingga H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan model PBL berbantuan PhET Simulations terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 34 Padang.
