Abstract

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease with clinical manifestations that range from mild acute febrile illness that resolves on its own to severe, life-threatening conditions with multiple organ dysfunction. Clinical features and various diagnostic tests establish leptospirosis diagnosis, such as bacterial isolation and serological examination. Because the antibody response required for serological testing is often insufficient to detect until the second week of disease (when the immune phase begins), sensitivity, when symptoms begin, is limited. Often, patients present with obvious clinical symptoms of leptospirosis but have negative serological test results. This study aimed to determine how to establish the clinical diagnosis of leptospirosis in leptospirosis cases with negative serology test results. This study used a descriptive method with a case series research design that analyzed four series of leptospirosis cases. The result of this study is that some cases of leptospirosis have obvious symptoms, but serological examination shows negative results. This can happen because new antibodies can be detected on day 6 to day 10 of the illness and reach their peak in 3-4 weeks so that the establishment of a clinical diagnosis of leptospirosis can be established from clear clinical symptoms and other laboratory tests. Establishing the clinical diagnosis of leptospirosis with negative serology can be done with the Faine scoring system.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a fairly serious problem in the world because the number of morbidity and mortality continues to increase every year. Based on the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1 million people are affected by Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) every day, of which around 500 million people are diagnosed with one of 4 STDs, namely Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, and Syphilis. Factors that cause an increase in the incidence of STDs include very high population growth, socioeconomic problems, sufferers who do not feel symptoms, and lack of health education and sex education in the community. Therefore, it is necessary to provide comprehensive education about syphilis to the community as a preventive effort to reduce morbidity and mortality rates caused by STIs, especially syphilis. The purpose of the webinar is to determine the effect of health education on public knowledge about syphilis. This study uses the one-group pre test post-test design method. The total sampling was 75 participants from various agencies. The instrument used for data collection is a question questionnaire via google form and data analysis using the Wilcoxon match paired test. The results showed that the average score of the pre-test was 73.77%, while the average post-test score increased to 95.08%. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the value of p = 0.000 <0.05. These results indicate that there is an effect of health education on public knowledge about syphilis so that people are expected to be more concerned with their own health and their environment about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), especially syphilis

Abstract

ABSTRACT Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social health, not only free from disease or disability related to the reproductive system, functions and processes. Adolescent Reproductive Health (KRR) is an integrated part of the health and family planning program in Indonesia. The specific aims of this integrated program are to address issues related to early marriage, unwanted pregnancies, tobacco and alcohol consumption, and HIV-AIDS. The aims of this community are to introduce and teach about the importance of maintaining reproductive health to students in order to be able to prevent the risk of problems or diseases in the reproductive organs. Counseling was carried out using the offline method at SMP 10 Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This counseling activity includes pretest, material, and posttest. The pretest and posttest were carried out to measure the initial and final knowledge abilities of the participants in the counseling "The Importance of Maintaining Reproductive Health for Students". The mean value of pretest, posttest, and difference respectively are 71.36 ± 19.99; 95.80±8.19; and 24.44±15.17. The values of pretest and posttest were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test because the difference data was not normally distributed and the value of p<0.05 was obtained. The result indicates that statistically, there is a significant difference in the level of knowledge between before and after counseling. The posttest median value was higher than the pretest median, so it can be concluded that this counseling activity increases the knowledge of the participants regarding "The Importance of Maintaining Reproductive Health for Students".
