Abstract

Background: Being too short for their age is a symptom of stunting, which is the inability to thrive as a result of chronic malnutrition beginning at birth. The prevalence of Stunting in Banten Province is 29.6%. Many studies have examined the factors that influence the incidence of stunting in infants, but a few articles have focused on nutritional and healthcare parenting. Objectives: This research aims to determine the association of nutritional, health, and psychosocial parenting with Stunting cases among children in Cikulur Primary Health Center’s working area.Methods: This research uses a cross-sectional study design with a quantitative approach whose analysis is done using the Chi-square test. The instrument used in measuring the independent variable was a questionnaire while the dependent variable used anthropometric measurements and growth charts. The study was conducted in June 2020 with a sample of 137 mothers with children under five. Result: This research obtained that the proportion of stunting children in this study was 51.8%. There is a significant association between nutrition parenting with Stunting (p-value: 0.015, POR: 0.399 CI%: 0.199 – 0,799), and healthcare patterns parenting (p-value of 0.022 and POR: 0.425, CI: 0.214 - 0.843). There is no association between psychosocial parenting with Stunting. Conclusion: Nutritional parenting and healthcare parenting are associated with children’s stunting cases. Mothers are supposed to support their children under five in their growth and development, as well as give them a healthy diet and healthcare attention.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a state of growth failure due to chronic malnutrition since the first 1000 days of life, so that toddlers are too short for their age. Stunting is the cumulative result of a process that begins during pregnancy, problems when pregnant women become the cause of stunting in toddlers. Some of the problems that occur in pregnant women such as lack of nutritional intake, teenage pregnancy, history of hypertension, and depression. Purpose: To gain an in-depth understanding of the causes of stunting in toddlers starting in the early first 1000 days of life period in the X Health Center area. Methods: This study used a qualitative description. Data collection is done by with an in-depth interview approach. Informants were selected by purposive sampling. The informants consisted of 5 people, 1 key informant (nutrition officer) and 4 informants of mothers who have stunted toddlers. The research tools used were interview guides and recorders. Results: the causes of stunting in the early first 1000 days of life period at the X Health Center occurred due to factors from direct and indirect causes. Direct causal factors include teenage pregnancy, nutritional intake during pregnancy, history of hypertension and depression during pregnancy. In addition, there are also indirect causal factors for stunting which include knowledge and family income. Conclusion: The causes of stunting in the early first 1000 days of life period include teenage pregnancy, nutritional intake during pregnancy, history of hypertension, depression during pregnancy. knowledge and family income.

Abstract

Abstrak: Jumlah lansia yang semakin meningkat di Indonesia perlu didukung dengan upaya untuk mengoptimalkan kesehatannya agar dapat produktif. Agar dapat mengoptimalkan kesehatannya, para warga lansia perlu diberikan edukasi untuk peningkatan pengetahuan terkait pola hidup sehat dan gizi seimbang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan motivasi warga lansia agar dapat menerapkan pola hidup sehat dan makan gizi seimbang.Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat dilakukan pada warga lansia Pamulang Barat, Tangerang Selatan, Banten. Kegiatan berupa edukasi yang diberikan kepada 38 Orang lansia.Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner pre dan posttest terlihat setelah kegiatan edukasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan yang terlihat dari adanya peningkatan nilai rerata dari 53,71 menjadi 78,86 dan antusiasme peserta kegiatan edukasi.Abstract: The increasing number of elderly people in Indonesia needs to be supported by efforts to optimize their health so that they can be productive. To maximize their health, elderly residents need to be given education to increase knowledge related to healthy lifestyles and balanced nutrition. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and motivation of elderly residents so that they can implement a healthy lifestyle and eat balanced nutrition. Community Service activities are carried out on elderly residents of RW 010, Benda Baru, Pamulang Barat, South Tangerang, Banten. Activities in the form of education were provided to 38 elderly people. Based on the results of the pre and posttest questionnaires, it can be seen. The results after educational activities show an increase in the level of knowledge seen from an increase in the mean score from 53.71 to 78.86 and the enthusiasm of participants in educational activities.
