Abstract

The deparaffinization stage in HE staining usually using xylol, but xylol has a toxic, volatile and flammable effect. An alternative solvent that can be used as a substitute for xylol is Averrhoa bilimbi solution which contains citric acid and has characterized that are easy to obtain, derived from nature and safe to use. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in the microscopic image (shape, color and cell background) of mammary tissue micro-deparaffinized with xylol and Averrhoa bilimbi solution. This type of research is an experimental study using mammae tissue samples with saturated samples using 2 variations of micro deparaffinization treatment, namely deparaffinization with Averrhoa bilimbi solution and deparaffinization using xylol. The results obtained were carried out by descriptive test, then the normality test using two pairs of data with the results on the shape, color and background are not normal, namely 0.000. The Wilcoxon test was carried out further with the results of cell shape, cell color and background p <0.05, which indicated that the shape, color and background of the two treatments had significant difference.

Abstract

Cyanide (CN-) is a compound that is commonly found in food and can cause health problems and reduce the bioavailability of nutrients in the body and even death, so the presence of cyanide needs to be controlled.Ninhydrin functions as a cyanide complexing reagent formed from the oxidation of thiocyanate which can be used to identify the presence of cyanide. This study aims to develop a cyanide identification method using the ninhydrin cyanide test kit. The test kit is a tool that can be used to detect levels of a compound quite accurately which is easy to use and operate by various groups. The reaction of ninhydrin with cyanide forms hydrindantine which will give a red color to the strip containing Na2CO3. This study uses a qualitative method with the type of pre-experimental research. The results of the data obtained were analyzed using a descriptive test that uses a pie chart frequency so that the results for cassava were positive at 93.3%, while the results were negative at 6.67%. So from this research it can be concluded that the development of a cyanide examination method using the Ninhydrin Test Kit method can be used to identify samples that are suspected to contain free cyanide qualitatively.

Abstract

In today's digital era, most people use smartphones for various purposes. In the laboratory field, as an innovation in laboratory examinations, and as a form of community service to promote healthy living and change people's lifestyles, medical laboratory technicians play a role in creating medical record applications. The development of this application is based on the fact that patients often forget about the examinations they have undergone, making it difficult to accurately record medical history. The examinations conducted on patients are a benchmark for lifestyle patterns that should be carefully considered by patients. This attention begins with the periodic recording of health history, which should be done to anticipate spikes or abnormalities in the body's condition. The application system, created through a semi-automatic method for recording and reminding examinations, is able to minimize errors or inaccuracies in the examination results in the history, thus facilitating self-control of both lifestyle, examinations, and health. Medical record application software can provide health data from previous laboratory examinations and can provide reminders for the next scheduled examination."
