Abstract

Kecakapan matematis merupakan salah satu acuan dalam kesuksesan belajar matematika. Salah satu komponen kecakapan matematis adalah Pemahaman Konseptual Matematis, dengan 6 indikator pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek sebanyak 44 mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika angkatan pertama IAIN Ponorogo Tahun Akademik 2022-2023. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk menganalisis pemahaman konseptual mahasiswa pada materi logika ditinjau dari hasil assessment diagnostic berupa asal jurusan pada jenjang pendidikan sebelumnya. Data diperoleh dari nilai hasil UTS mata kuliah Pengantar Dasar Matematika dan kuesioner. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, pemahaman konseptual mahasiswa Tadris Matematika IAIN Ponorogo pada materi logika masih tergolong rendah. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan rerata persentase pada masing-masing asal jurusan masih berada di bawah 70%. Adapun rincian rerata persentase pemahaman konseptual mahasiswa dari asal jurusan IPA sebesar 52,3%, mahasiswa dari asal jurusan IPS 43,3%, serta mahasiswa dari asal jurusan Agama dan kejuruan masing-masing 33,3%. Ditinjau dari indikator pemahaman konseptual matematis, kesalahan yang paling banyak dilakukan mahasiswa adalah pada indikator keenam yaitu mengembangkan syarat perlu atau cukup dari suatu konsep yaitu hanya 2 dari seluruh mahasiswa mampu menjawab benar. Mathematical proficiency is one of the treatises to indicate the success of learning mathematics. One component of mathematical proficiency is Mathematical Conceptual Understanding, with 6 indicators of it. This is descriptive quantitative research and continued with answer analysis of 44 Mathematics Education students of the first batch at IAIN Ponorogo in the Academic Year 2022-2023. This study focuses on analyzing descriptively students' conceptual understanding of logic in term diagnostic assessment results i.e. students’ majors at the previous education level. Data were obtained from the students’ scores and answers to Logic material. Based on the results, known that the conceptual understanding of students is still relatively low as it is below 70%. For details, the average student’s conceptual understanding percentage from science majors is 52.3%, social sciences majors are 43.3%, and religion and vocational majors are 33.3%. The common mistakes that students made were in the sixth indicator, i.e. developing necessary or sufficient terms of a concept which only 2 of all students answered correctly.

Abstract

Classroom learning requires effective communication between teachers and students to create a conducive environment and enhance learning. This study analyzes the impact of teacher communication on students' interest in learning exponents using a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 10th-grade students and a mathematics teacher at a vocational school in Yogyakarta, selected via purposive sampling. The findings show that effective communication increases students' motivation, active participation, and understanding of exponents. Interactive methods, such as discussions and QA sessions, foster student engagement and improve their grasp of the material. These results highlight the critical role of teacher-student communication in creating an enjoyable and effective learning experience, ultimately supporting better academic outcomes.

Abstract

The use of GeoGebra in mathematics education positively impacts students' mathematical abilities. This meta-analysis examines its overall effectiveness using 10 studies selected from Google Scholar and Scopus based on inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using RStudio, revealing an overall effect size of 1.31, indicating a highly positive impact. The study also analyzed variability with four moderator variables: education level, publication type, control class type, and mathematical ability. Results show that GeoGebra significantly enhances mathematical abilities based on publication source and control type but is not influenced by education level. Notably, GeoGebra effectively improves students' conceptual understanding of mathematics, making it a valuable tool for enhancing mathematical skills in education. These findings emphasize the significant role of GeoGebra in fostering students' mathematical comprehension.

Abstract

Climate change poses a global threat to the sustainability of life. Cultivating environmental awareness is urgently needed. Mathematics education plays a strategic role in achieving sustainable development goals. This qualitative research aims to gather initial information on the need to develop student worksheets based on environmental sustainability on the topic of data presentation. The research stages include: initial-final analysis, analysis of student characteristics, task analysis, concept analysis, and formulation of specific learning objectives. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's qualitative analysis. The results of the study indicate that: (1) teachers have not fully integrated the environmental context, either directly or through media, so that the meaning of mathematics learning is relatively low; (2) students' environmental awareness and numeracy literacy skills in the context of the topic of data presentation are still low. These findings form the basis for developing student worksheets.
