Abstract

Students' mathematical motivation is an important factor in understanding mathematics. Many studies have shown that students who have high motivation to learn mathematics, get better achievement than students who have low motivation. However, research that provides instruments to measure the mathematics motivation scale is still rare. This research aims to: (1) Describe the process of developing the Student Mathematics Motivation Scale (SMMS) instrument, (2) Describe the results of developing the Student Mathematics Motivation Scale (SMMS) instrument. This research model uses survey research with mixed methods. The research subjects were Junior High School students in MTs. 2 Nurul Islam, Mojokerto, Indonesia. This research produced 19 questions containing 3 main indicators, they are intrinsic goals, extrinsic goals, and perceptions of mathematics. The validity test results show a very good level of validity, as well as a high category of reliability (α = 0.817). Therefore, this instrument is very good for measuring students’ mathematics motivation scale.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematika tertulis siswa SMP dalama memecahkan masalah sistem persamaan linear dua variabel ditinjau dari tipe kepribadian Extrovert dan Introvert. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara umum siswa Extrovert dan Introvert memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis secara tertulis yang dapat dilihat dari hasil TPM I dan TPM II. Dalam menyelesaikan TPM I dan TPM II, siswa Ectrovert dan Introvert memiliki kesamaan, yaitu keduanya mampu menuliskan informasi yang didapat dari soal, menuliskan ide matematika yang diketahui, dan dapat menggunakan simbol-simbol matematika dengan tepat dan benar. Selain kesamaan tersebut, terdapat juga perbedaaan diantara siswa berkpribadian Extrovert dan Introvert dalam kemampuan komunikasi secara tertulis, yaitu siswa extrovert lebih mudah menyudahi suatu penyelesaian walaupun belum menemukan solusinya dan tidak rapi dalam menuliskan langkah-langkah penyelesaiannya, sebaliknya siswa Introvert jauh lebih teliti dan rapi dalam menuliskan gagasan dan langkah-langkah penyelesaian suatu masalah.

Abstract

Kecemasan belajar matematika siswa merupakan faktor yang sangat berpengaruh bagi siswa dalam meraih hasil yang terbaik. Banyak penelitian yang telah menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang memiliki kecemasan matematika tinggi mendapatkan nilai yang lebih rendah daripada siswa yang memiliki kecemasan matematika rendah. Penelitian yang menyajikan instrumen untuk mengukur skala kecemasan matematika harus terus diupdate sesuai dengan kondisi terbaru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan instrumen Skala Kecemasan Matematika Siswa (SKMS), (2) Mendeskripsikan hasil dari pengembangan instrumen Skala Kecemasan Matematika Siswa (SKMS). Model penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian pengembangan dengan metode metode analisis statistik deskriptif dan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian merupakan siswa MTs. 2 Nurul Islam, Pungging, Mojokerto. Penelitian ini menghasilkan 29 butir pertanyaan yang termuat dalam 4 indikator utama yakni gejala fisiologis, gejala psikologis, gejala perilaku, dan gejala kognitif. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan tingkat validitas yang sangat baik, serta reliabilitas dengan kategori yang sangat tinggi (α = 0,925). Oleh karena itu, instrumen ini sangat baik digunakan untuk mengukur skala kecemasan matematika siswa.

Abstract

Dyscalculia is a form of learning difficulty experienced by children in mathematics learning that involves counting skills, that is learning disabilities that affect the ability of children to acquire arithmetic skills. Many elementary students have difficulty in solving word problems, especially students with mathematics learning difficulties. Solving a word problem is a common difficulty for students with learning disabilities, so a teacher needs to have a clear understanding of the specific errors made by students with learning disabilities during problem-solving. Errors in solving mathematical problems need to be analyzed to determine the types of errors. In this research the types of student errors in solving basic arithmetic word problems related to the topic of integers. The difficulty in mathematics learning can be identified by using Newman's Error Analysis (NEA). The error analysis will include errors in reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and encoding. This research is a descriptive qualitative nature that aims a describe the types of errors that dyscalculia children make in solving the basic arithmetic word problems. The subjects of the research were students from the fifth grade of inclusion class in an elementary school. Data collection techniques used in this research are written tests and interviews.
