Abstract

This study critically examines Qur'anic principles of wealth distribution as a potential solution to global economic inequality. Employing a qualitative, thematic tafsir-based analysis of selected Qur'anic verses, the research reveals that Islamic instruments such as zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF) offer a comprehensive and morally grounded framework for addressing structural poverty and socio-economic disparities. Rooted in the maqāṣid sharī‘ah paradigm, these mechanisms aim to ensure social justice by mandating ethical wealth circulation, protecting essential human rights, and countering the concentration of resources among economic elites. Despite their transformative potential, the implementation of these instruments in modern contexts faces challenges, including limited institutional transparency, fragmented regulation, and low public participation. This study contributes to global academic discourse by demonstrating how Qur'anic economic ethics can inform inclusive fiscal policies and sustainable development models. It recommends policy reforms integrating digital financial technologies, standardized zakat-wakaf governance, and stronger state–Islamic institution collaboration. Future research is encouraged to expand empirical evaluations of Islamic wealth redistribution mechanisms in diverse socio-economic contexts and to compare their effectiveness against conventional capitalist systems.

Abstract

The Islamic non-bank financial Industry (NBFI syariah) plays an important role in supporting the growth and strengthening of Islamic banking in Indonesia. The existence of NBFI syariah, such as Islamic insurance, Islamic financing, Islamic pension funds, and Islamic capital markets, is an integral part of the national Islamic financial ecosystem. This article aims to analyze the strategic contribution of NBFI syariah in supporting the development of Islamic banking through a descriptive-qualitative approach based on literature reviews and secondary data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia, and other relevant institutions. The findings indicate that Islamic non-bank financial institutions expand the reach of Islamic financial services, enhance financial literacy and inclusion, and provide alternative financing and risk mitigation options in line with Islamic principles. Synergistic collaboration between Islamic banking and non-banking financial institutions is considered capable of strengthening the overall stability of the Islamic financial system. Therefore, strengthening regulations, improving institutional capacity, and product innovation are key to optimizing the role of Islamic non-bank financial institutions in promoting inclusive and sustainable Islamic banking growth in Indonesia.

This study aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of digital waqf and its contribution to wealth redistribution and Islamic economic development. The research employs a literature review method, analyzing various studies on digital waqf and supporting technologies like blockchain. The results indicate that digital waqf enhances efficiency, transparency, and public participation, particularly through digital platforms. However, challenges such as low digital literacy, limited infrastructure, and inadequate regulations hinder the optimization of its potential. This study recommends improving digital literacy, establishing comprehensive regulations, and fostering collaboration among governments, Islamic financial institutions, and fintech to build an inclusive and sustainable digital waqf ecosystem.

Abstract

Wealth distribution in Islamic economics is an important pillar in creating sustainable social justice and welfare. This study aims to describe the concept of distribution in the perspective of Islamic economics, identify the sharia principles that underlie it, and explain the mechanisms of wealth distribution through instruments such as zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive using literature review techniques, with primary data sourced from the Quran and Hadith, and secondary data from academic literature and previous studies. The findings reveal that the Islamic distribution system balances individual property rights with social responsibility, prevents the accumulation of wealth among certain groups, and ensures equitable access to economic resources. Islamic distribution instruments have proven relevant in addressing global economic inequality, both through classical application during the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and the Khulafaur Rasyidin, as well as contemporary adaptation in the digital age. With a combination of spiritual and moral values and practical mechanisms, wealth distribution in Islam offers a fair, sustainable, and inclusive alternative strategy in facing global issues.

Abstract

Cooperatives in Indonesia have long been the main pillar of people's economic development, placing the principles of kinship and mutual cooperation as the foundation. This article aims to analyze the contributions, challenges, and opportunities of cooperatives in supporting people's economic empowerment through a systematic literature review of national and international publications for the period 2013–2025. The results of this study show that cooperatives play a significant role in expanding access to capital, supporting MSMEs, providing alternative financial services, and strengthening community solidarity. Digitalization and technological innovation have been proven to improve governance efficiency, transparency, and member participation, while the development of Sharia cooperatives expands the service base according to Islamic principles. However, several challenges remain, such as weak governance, limited human resources, low financial literacy, and the absence of a special deposit guarantee institution for cooperatives. In the future, strengthening the principles of social solidarity, legal protection reform, and cross-sector collaboration will be key to ensuring that cooperatives are adaptive, inclusive, and remain relevant as the "pillar" of the modern people's economy.
