Abstract

Immigration has become a central issue in U.S. national security policy, especially after the events of September 11, 2001. The discourse around immigration is increasing, especially in the context of national security policy, which leads to the securitization of immigration. This process constructs immigration as a security threat, which justifies a strict political and policy response. In former President Obama's perspective, U.S. immigration policy has been focused on national security since the beginning of his presidency. This emphasis is manifested through increased border surveillance and inclusive and humane immigration law enforcement through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Instead, Donald Trump's administration adopted a more secure approach, focusing on border security and immigration restrictions, including a controversial border wall and travel ban. This shift reflects a broader shift in U.S. domestic politics and global perceptions. Understanding these differences provides insight into how immigration policy impacts U.S. national and public security.

Abstract

In the recesses of the Palestine-Israel conflict which continues to metamorphose, the Intifada movement has become a symbol of resistance to occupation and oppression which curbs the aspirations of the Palestinian people. However, in this era of increasingly connected globalization, the dynamics of this movement are experiencing a significant transformation, which challenges traditional paradigms and brings new challenges that affect both parties. With major challenges such as perceived injustice and political instability, resolving this conflict has the potential to reduce extremism and increase stability in the Middle East, so this study will explore how the Palestinian Intifada influenced conflict resolution efforts with the aim of understanding the essence of the Intifada movement which is often seen as a form of extremism and radicalization, and this study will also explore the transformation of the Palestinian Intifada into a global phenomenon, considering its impact on conflict dynamics and practical approaches to achieving sustainable and stable peace in the region.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes state-sponsored cryptocurrency theft, focusing on the Lazarus Group affiliated with North Korea, within the framework of contemporary hybrid warfare strategy. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the article explains how systematic and large-scale crypto asset theft conducted by Lazarus Group serves not only financial motives but also functions as a strategic tool to evade international sanctions and fund North Korea’s nuclear programs. The research finds that such cybercrimes reflect high-ambiguity, non-conventional tactics key features of hybrid warfare. This study expands the traditional concept of hybrid warfare by incorporating digital financial crimes as instruments of state geopolitical strategy. It further highlights the importance of international collaboration and strengthened cybersecurity policy to address increasingly complex digital-era threats.

Abstract

The rise in sea levels caused by climate change has compelled island nations such as Kiribati to implement strategic policies, including climate adaptation, to address its impacts. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with an analytical framework grounded in the theories of human security and ecofeminism to assess the effects of climate change adaptation strategies on women in Kiribati. Climate change has affected every aspect of human security—from economic conditions to personal safety—posing layered and disproportionate challenges for women, who often bear primary responsibility within the household. The study finds that women are not merely victims but also agents of change and drivers of climate adaptation through advocacy rooted in their lived experiences and environmental knowledge. This research underscores the importance of inclusive, participatory, and gender-just adaptation policies. Only through such approaches can climate crisis responses foster truly sustainable resilience across all sectors of society.

Abstract

The 2024 data breach incident at Indonesia's National Data Center (PDN) marked a major crisis in the governance of national cybersecurity. This study examines the causes, threats, proposed solutions, and the roles of both the government and the public in responding to such breaches. The research employs a literature review and media framing analysis, focusing on news coverage and government policy responses. Findings indicate that systemic vulnerabilities, inadequate infrastructure readiness, and human factors are the primary causes of the breach. The resulting threats include economic and social losses, a decline in public trust, and the risk of data misuse. Proposed solutions involve strengthening regulations, enhancing technical capacity, and increasing public awareness through education. The active participation of civil society and swift government response are critical to restoring trust and preventing similar incidents in the future.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has made cyberspace a new arena for international conflict. The Lazarus Group, a hacking group allegedly affiliated with the North Korean government, has come to global attention for its involvement in numerous large-scale cyberattacks targeting financial institutions, global corporations, and public infrastructure. This study aims to analyze the group's operational patterns, strategic motives, and its implications for global cybersecurity. Using a qualitative approach and document analysis, the study investigates how Lazarus represents North Korea's strategy to counter international isolation and gain economic advantage. The results show that the international community's response to state actor threats in cyberspace is fragmented and ineffective. Therefore, a stronger and more coordinated multilateral framework is needed to respond to cyber threats from state actors.

Abstract

This research discusses the impact of EU energy protectionism in the face of global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and the energy crisis due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Those two major events reveal the risks of over-dependence on foreign suppliers and the lack of diversification in the EU supply chain. As a solution, the EU has implemented various policies, including RePowerE, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and Green Deal Industrial Plan (GDIP), to reduce dependence on energy imports and increase domestic renewable energy production. Through the analysis of neoliberalism and Game Theory approaches, particularly the Prisoner's Dilemma concept, this article explores the implications of protectionist policies on international trade stability. The analysis shows that while protectionist policies can strengthen the EU's energy independence and domestic security, they also have the potential to trigger international trade tensions and protectionist retaliation from other countries.
