<![CDATA[Abstract. Sport is a factor that influences human health, where health plays an important role in supporting humans in carrying out activities. In Indonesia, the sport of softball is increasingly advanced and developing. Mentality contributes 78.6%, which is in the strong category, to achievement in sports. However, there are differences in results in previous studies, there are high, medium and low correlation results. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between mental toughness and competitive anxiety in West Java softball team athletes participating in PRA PON XXI 2023. This research is a quantitative correlational research. The subjects of this research were 34 West Java softball team athletes who participated in PRA PON XXI 2023. The measuring tool used in the research was the Algani mental toughness scale referring to Gucciardi's theory with 1 item invalid and 19 items valid. Apart from that, Amir's competitive anxiety scale refers to Smith's Theory with 2 invalid items and 19 valid items. This research used the Spearman Rank correlation analysis technique and obtained a correlation result of -0.720, that there was a negative relationship between mental toughness and competitive anxiety in West Java softball team athletes. If the athlete's mental toughness attitude is high, the athlete's competitive anxiety behavior will be lower. Abstrak. Olahraga merupakan faktor yang mempengaruhi kesehatan manusia, dimana kesehatan berperan penting untuk mendukung manusia dalam melakukan kegiatan. Di Indonesia, olahraga softball semakin maju dan semakin berkembang. Mental memberikan sumbangan sebesar 78,6% yang termasuk kategori kuat terhadap prestasi dalam berolahraga. Namun, terdapat perbedaan hasil pada penelitian sebelumnya, terdapat hasil korelasi tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui hubungan antara mental toughness dan competitive anxiety pada atlet softball tim Jawa Barat yang berpartisipasi pada PRA PON XXI 2023. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 34 atlet tim softball Jawa Barat yang berpartisipasi pada PRA PON XXI 2023. Alat ukur yang digunakan pada penelitian yaitu skala mental toughness Algani mengacu pada Teori Gucciardi dengan 1 aitem gugur dan 19 aitem valid. Selain itu, skala competitive anxiety Amir mengacu pada Teori Smith dengan 2 aitem gugur dan 19 aitem valid. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi Rank Spearman dan diperoleh hasil korelasi sebesar -0.720, bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif antara mental toughness dan competitive anxiety pada atlet softball tim Jawa Barat. Jika sikap mental toughness pada atlet tinggi, maka akan semakin rendah perilaku competitive anxiety pada atlet.]]>
