Abstract

Learning models that do not follow students' needs are one factor that causes low-quality education. Therefore, a teacher in the learning planning process must understand students' characteristics and initial abilities to adjust to their needs. The method used in this study is qualitative, using a descriptive approach. The sampling technique used is total sampling (all students), which is 15 students. The data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation for four weeks in third grade at Gombang State Elementary School. The characteristics of third-grade students of Gombang State Elementary School include learning from concrete things, 2) hierarchical, 3) liking to group in doing activities, 4) doing/demonstrating something directly, 5) having mastered more than 3,500 words and in the semantic phase, 6) highly curious about something. The importance of identifying the characteristics of students is to optimize student needs so that learning programs in elementary schools will be effective because they are based on the characteristics and needs of students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar, yang ditandai oleh masih banyaknya siswa yang membaca secara mekanis tanpa memahami isi teks. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis Deep Learning terhadap kemampuan membaca teks drama “Awas!” pada siswa kelas IV. Penelitian menggunakan metode campuran Sequential Exploratory, dengan tahap kualitatif melalui observasi dan wawancara, serta tahap kuantitatif melalui penilaian hasil belajar. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 27 siswa kelas IVB SDN Tugurejo 1. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan tes hasil belajar yang diolah menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PBL berbasis Deep Learning meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam membaca, memperkuat pemahaman pesan moral, serta meningkatkan nilai rata-rata dari 80,56 menjadi 88,52. Selain itu, jumlah siswa yang belum mencapai KKTP menurun dari lima menjadi tiga orang. Penelitian merekomendasikan penerapan PBL berbasis Deep Learning secara berkelanjutan pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia untuk memperkuat literasi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata kunci: PBL; deep learning; keterampilan membaca; teks drama “ Awas”; sekolah dasar; Kelas IV
